Bourne Valley Inn
Reviewed 25 July 2014

A friend and I had an impromptu lunch and a few beers. We both had the freshly battered haddock and chips which was very good. At £12.50 it was reasonable value. The garden is very pleasant in the sunshine and it was easy to convince ourselves to have an extra beer or two.
The staff were very good, friendly welcome and chatty.

Thank you so much for your review of the Bourne Valley Inn. I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed your relaxing lunch with us in the sunshine.

We serve 3 ales in house, Upham Sprinter, Doombar and Ringwood Fortyniner. As well as Amstel, Heineken and Orchard pig cider on draught, so I can see why it was so easy to convince yourselves to have a couple of extra beers!!

Thank you again and hopefully we will be able to welcome you back soon.

Traveling into UK from Stavanger needed a room for the night at short notice, checked on line and the Bourne Inn was listed about 4 down, the price was within my company budget and the location ideal as I needed to be back in LHR the following morning for an onward flight but did not want to stay in the city on such a hot and humid night. I also was meeting up with a friend and we thought it would be nice to walk down the river and catch up. The establishment is under new ownership as of nine weeks ago and the decor is fresh the rooms a good size and very tidy. This is a quiet out of the way place with no mobile phone reception but excellent wifi if connectivity is required. The menu looks good and produce fresh and local. Not ideal for business necessarily unless you don't want to be disturbed but fantastic to have an intense recharge of the batteries before getting back on the road or exploring the wider countryside. I would recommend the Bourne Inn wholeheartedly and enjoyed my brief stay immensely. I will be staying again and have book marked the location for future reference.

Thank you so much for your kind and thorough review of the BVI, we are so glad that you enjoyed your short stay with us.

We do try to use local produce as much as possible with the majority of our summer fruits coming from the Bourne Valley Pick Your Own farm just 5 minutes up the road from us.

Unfortunately the mobile phone signal is something which we all struggle with and as you said is one of the perks of being in the beautiful Hampshire countryside but the landline at reception is there is anyone really would like to call the office!!

Thank you once again for taking the time to share your experiences, they are much appreciated!

Charming, professional and helpful staff, excellent food, very pleasant room and stunning location. Staying at the BVI was an absolute treat, and with immediate access to walks in fields and woods, without even crossing, a road the dog loved it too.

In general we had a good stay and this inn has great potential - a little attention to detail will make this a great inn. The best thing going for the BVI is the location - we found this little village to be one of the most beautiful villages we have ever visited. The stream, lake, cottages, and village church are all not to be missed - truly beautiful. The food was hit or miss - some excellent, but inconsistent. Rooms are nice but small. Bathroom shower curtains were a problem - not properly hung.

I've now stayed on a few occasions whilst on business and the place has consistently high standards.

Rooms and whole place are very well furnished with a traditional but modern British feel about it (tweedy plain flockesque).

Staff are great and the menu and food are to a really high standard.

A really beautiful part of the world that will appeal to tourists and anglers (one of the best trout fishing rivers in its door step).

Pleased to have this as a regular place to visit.
