“A warm, welcoming oasis”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

We drove all the way down from Canberra and arrived on a Friday night, it was dark, very wet and foggy. We made our way up through the vines to our cabin to find it warm, cosy and with some soft music playing. So very inviting! It wasn't until we woke the next morning and the mist had cleared that we realised what a beautiful location it was. We would certainly stay again and can recommend the wine and wood fired pizza.

Hi Roadtrip541!

Thank you so much for taking the time to reflect on your stay with us and leave us with such kind words!

It sounds as though you'd had a long day by the time you reached us, so we are very pleased to hear that you found your cottage cosy and relaxing! It's also excellent to hear that you had a chance to visit cellar door and enjoyed a meal with us, we really love to meet our cottage guests and show off our food and wines a little.

We hope to see you again soon, either up at the cottages or enjoying another tasty wood oven pizza!

Many Thanks,

Gisborne Peak Winery & Eco-Cottages

The cottages are beautiful, very modern and cosy, the wine is the best I've ever had and comes with a delicious cheese platter. I was particularly surprised at everything available in the cottage, from all sorts of magazines and books for some quiet reading to DVD's for entertainment. The surroundings are stunning, very peaceful and relaxing, the perfect getaway for an escape from 'city life'. The staff are also very friendly and helpful, with local attractions only a short drive away. We highly recommend to anyone wanting a quick escape, some R&R or for adventurous types, wanting to bike the surrounding hill sides.

Dear Sarah S,

What a fantastic review for us to read!

Nothing makes us happier than to hear that our visitors enjoyed our beautiful surrounds as much as we do. We are very lucky to be situated in such a lovely part of the world, and it sounds as though you really took advantage of all that the area has to offer.

A lot of the planning that went into the Eco-Cottages was based around the question, "What do I appreciate when I'm staying away from home?" from there we focused on creating a home away from home experience for our guests, so it is always reassuring and inspiring to hear that we achieved this goal.

Thank you very much for taking the time to reflect back on your stay with us and leave us with such encouraging feedback. We look forward to seeing you at the winery again in the near future!

Many thanks,

Gisborne Peak Winery and Eco-Cottages

This is a fabulous place to enjoy some lovely wine and great wood-fired pizzas before curling up in the most fabulous eco cottages. The staff, (besides being really knowledgable about all things grape), welcomed us like old friends and their personal touches and generous hospitality meant we had a great night. The cottages are very well designed and the thoughtful touches inside are tasteful and carefully considered to maximise our comfort. They prepared a reasonably priced tasting platter for us to have in our room, perfect partner for our Pinot Noir purchases! I was given an 'adopted vine' as a birthday present and its been great seeing the vineyard through the seasons and the cottages are a great stay in a great place. Going back? You betcha!

Room Tip: Every cottage is private and well placed

Oh my goodness! So glad I stayed here on my recent weekend visit to Melbourne. After very little sleep in Brisbane Thursday night and a very long day on Friday we arrived (cold and tired) from sunny Qld well after dark at the winery. Our key was left for us (with a lovely smiley face) and our cabin was all lit up with the heater going and some lovely music. It was amazing. I was so excited. We had a full on itinerary for the weekend but I would just as happily stayed in my cosy cottage the whole time. The cottages are in a great location and driving around was easy. My only regret is we couldn't stay longer and we didn't get to meet the owners or sample their pizza. Hubby and I will definitely be back! Don't stay in the noisy city - experience the best of both worlds and have a nice peaceful place to rest your head and catch the train into the city. Loved it!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in 'Bidgee Widgee' and it was delightful!

Dear CountryChick07,

What a fantastic review you've left us with! Thank you so much for taking the time to reflect on your stay with us and post such lovely feedback! We print off all the reviews we receive (positive and constructive) for all our staff to read. It is always very much appreciated by everyone when a post like this comes along - nothing is more satisfying or encouraging for our staff, than to know that our guests appreciate the environment we all work to create at Gisborne Peak.

We are thrilled to hear that you found your time at Bidgee Widgee peaceful and relaxing, it sounds as though it was just what you needed amidst such a busy trip. We do hope to see you again soon at the winery, and that you have a chance to meet our lovely owners and try our wood-oven pizzas!

Many Thanks

We spent the weekend at the cottages. Nice and quiet and relaxing. Well appointed kitchenette and good provisions to cook your breakfast when you are ready. We also had a pizza at the winery and it was great for a relaxing lunch.

Great place to stay. The cottages were clean and comfortable with great views of the vineyard. Plenty to do and see in the area Breakfast provisions were good but I would have liked the option of having breakfast in the restaurant. I'd like to come back and try the wood fire pizza next time.

Dear Az567,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a great review for us. It's always great to hear that our guests enjoyed their time with us, and appreciate the beautiful Macedon Ranges area as much as we do!

We do understand that some of our visitors would like a restaurant breakfast, and we full appreciate the legitimacy of this desire. Unfortunately however, as we only offer the four cottages, it is not viable for us to operate and staff the cellar door facilities with a breakfast menu. We do feel that we compensate for this by way of the in-room breakfast provisions of bacon, eggs, breads, yoghurt, muffins, cereals, fruit, beans, tomato and juice.

Thank you again for your feedback, we hope to see you again soon, whether it be in the Cellar Door for one of our wood oven pizzas, a glass of wine, or back up in the cottages enjoying the lovely view!

Many Thanks,

Stayed at Gisbane Peak for 1 night whilst in the area for work. Very welcoming arrival with the accomodation warm and inviting. Comfortable, with everything I needed. Was quite secluded in a beautiful setting. Breakfast provisions more than adequate. Enjoyed driving through the vineyard to get to the accommodation. Lovely place to stay.
