Stayed one night around new years eve. I was pleasantly surprised by the rooms and surrounding grounds. Good basic option. I paid $20 more to have a "deluxe" room at the back of the hotel. Location wise it's well situated too, only a short walk into the town center and a shorter walk to the Spirit of Punjab restaurant.

We booked in for one night as a halfway point to home. Room size great. Furnishings very old and very dirty. Blanket on end of bed was dirty. Curtains dirty and window ledges obviously hadn't been cleaned for a long while. Bathroom was a disgrace with mould in the shower, toilet had an unclean smell about it. There was patch up paintwork unfinished. Overall not a very pleasant stay - wouldn't recommend! SC

Room Tip: If clean and modernized would stay however would not recommend.

We thank you for your comments. The Comfort Inn Country Plaza has undergone significant changes in the last 2 years and we are aware that our rooms are not modern but it is the same throughout the region as a whole. With severe fluctuations in the demand for accommodation and the consumer's expectations of low rates in the area it is extremely hard to re-invest into our respective properties and so progress with our refurbishment programme has been extremely slow. We felt that investing into high quality beds was essential and that was undertaken along with new televisions, electronic door locks and doors. We have recently completed our first proto-type room and are hoping that we will be able to follow on with more. Despite the ageing issue we do believe that our rooms are well presented and generally clean but there are obviously some areas that we do need to look into to ensure that age is not confused with lack of cleanliness. Maybe another stay at our property in the future may indicate to you that we are endeavouring to improve the overall experience. Thank you.

We were really surprised at this place. The rooms were stuck in the 70s.

Restaurant was expensive with average meals.. Our second night we ate in town, a 3 min walk. Much better

Service was average at best. The guy on reception was awfully curt.

Am sorry to say we did not enjoy our stay at all

We thank you for your review. Not being informed of what room you had we can only add that some of our rooms are sold as STANDARD rooms and which are quite basic but are priced accordingly. The property was built between the early and late 80s and has been slowly undergoing some changes. We believe that most people choose a motel for a good night's sleep, a good shower and a good meal. We believe that we have the best beds in regional Victoria (in all rooms), our showers are good and, despite your experience, we also believe that we offer a good dining experience. It would seem that maybe the restaurant may have been busy and things went wrong and hence has contributed to your negative experience. We have many satisfied customers who do not have the time to share their reviews within the community and so hopefully next time you visit the Grampians you may consider to give us another opportunity to prove that we are indeed one of the better establishments in Halls Gap. Thank you.

Halls Gap is a lovely part of the world with so much to see and explore. Our biggest let down was this hotel. The little town is filled with great sights, lovely places to eat and drink and everywhere we found very welcoming folks who made our experience great. Then we arrived at the Comfort Inn to have very average service by the lady on reception and when we enquirer about places to see she brushed us off quickly (her mobile phone was her priority)... Then on departure we had a disgraceful experience with a man on reception this time. When asked if we had used the mini bar I replied no, but they wouldn't remove the credit card authorisation until housekeeping checked. When I suggested we check together he was too busy...

On top of this the rooms are dated, the bed uncomfortable, they have glued the bedside lamps to the table and all the furniture is locked down ... Very weird!!!

Honestly there ate so many lovely little places to stay I would avoid this one !

Room Tip: Don't choose this hotel

We thank you for your comments. We are surprised to hear that our brand new beds were so uncomfortable and so we have passed your comment on to the manufacturer for them to look into. We do not quite understand the issue about motel furniture being fixed as it is generally the case in the majority of motels that were built around the same time. We do strive to provide a pleasant experience for our guests but it appears that in your case we have apparently failed.
Thank you again.

Good clean spacious accommodation.

Staff were friendly and welcoming and always ready to assist with any enquiries or questions about local attractions, facilities etc.

The kangaroos at night and morning were an unexpected plus and the wildlife we could see from the dining room was very entertaing.

would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others.

The bedroom we were given was the largest we had ever seen in a hotel. The furnishings were "granny" style but everything was super clean. The bathrrom was enormous with a strangely small shower. However, water pressure was good and everything worked. I felt we got value for money - what was lacking in style was more than made up for in comfort.

We were surprised to be told that since it was a Sunday there were no meals available. We were incorrectly advised that only a single restaurant was open. We did not try breakfast as the motel had a very deserted feel to it. Check in and check out were quick and painless.

The grounds were neat and well maintained and the main building seemed OK.

We stayed here for 1 night recently and had 2 bookings for 3 rooms in total between the people in our group. The couple who booked separately didn't have any issue with their booking. We however found the bedding arrangement they had for us was completely different to what we had booked. We required a room for 4 and a room for 2. We were told at booking the beds would be a double and a single for the 2 person room and for the 4 we were expecting a king and a queen. On arrival they tried to give us a king only for the 2 people and a king and single only (sleeping 3 people) for 4 people. They then found a room with 2 singles and a queen for the 4 person room and the 2 people were stuck with a king (2 adult men were expected to share a bed). We were able to switch rooms between the 2 guys and the couple as the couples room was a double and a single. If we hadn't been able to do this then we would have been stuck with bedding arrangements that were not appropriate. They need to get their act in order with the bookings so you actually receive a room that matches what you booked.

In regards to the room ours (4 person room) was spacious, clean and while a little dated everything was in good order, although I think one of power points beside the bed wasn't working (I tried to charge my phone overnight which was still flat in the morning still). The beds were very comfortable and soft.
