“Ah, not so great”
Reviewed 13 November 2013

Ok, I did something I normally don't do, I just rocked up at this place and then found out I was going to be charged $115, oh that is a $5 discount for a single, and being me I was too nice to say no thanks, and it was close to where I wanted to have dinner, so I said yes. Room was nice enough, but, even though it was pretty new looking I noticed that the mugs I was to have my coffee from were stained from tea (I hope) and when I went to brush my teeth I noticed the grout above the tiles had a mark on it and thinking it might have been me, I took a closer look to see that it was an old stain so made me feel like the room wasn't as spotless as it should be. Rinsing cups out in the sink without looking how clean they are really doesn't cut it for me, change the mugs if they can't be cleaned, and finding someone elses spit on the tiles in the bathroom really is not good at all. The design of the bathroom was poor too, pity a big couple wanting to use it, they'd really struggle I think. Also the curtains barely closed and were not thick enough to block out the lights shining all night, glad I brought a mask! Other than that the colours used on a couple of the walls were sensational.

Was really worried after reading previous reviews on here, but was very pleasantly surprised. Our cabin was clean and tidy, with supplies of shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, body wash, hand cream, lovely thick clean towel, and very thing you could want in the kitchen. The park grounds was neat and tidy. The daily bird feeding was a fun thing to watch.

Other than the location, there is nothing to recommend about this "lodging".
We suffered the misfortune of staying in the deluxe cabin. It is not fit for more than two people. The bunk bed is made for actual dwarfs (it's only 150 cm long) and that's when you ignore the 20 year old unwashed foam mattress.

The designer of this "cabin" has much to learn about insulation and condensation. Never have I seen a horse that required you to wear shoes inside because the condensation is causing puddles on the floor.

Never have I been this glad to be underweight. The shower in this place is quite obviously made to prove that anorexia is the only suitable body habitus. Even so, be prepared to spend the entire time freezing because the window doesn't shut and the shower curtain is caressing your lower body. Not that it all matters as the 25w light won't be able to illuminate you through the dark, mildewy shower curtain.

Be warned, the second hand cigarette smoke in the office will cause any asthmatic limitless suffering, and increase your chance of lung cancer. (Not that you'll care as finally getting someone's attention is as difficult as winning the tour de france - without doping)

The kitchen was like a bad op shop. Nothing matched and there were too little glasses, spoons and no sharp knifes - now I know never to use a bread knife to cut a cake.

Most people would come to the Grampians to see a bit of nature, hearing the fridge taxiing to takeoff all night is not what we had in mind.

Calling this place deluxe is an insult to the French language, much more appropriate would be to call it demerde.

On a more positive note I did not see any rats or cockroaches.

Sorry to hear about the issue with your stay. The business has since changed ownership in February 2016 and is now known as Halls Gap Gardens Caravan Park. Since taking over we have done many improvements to the staff including replacing furniture, completely new staff, new kitchen supplies and much more.

We hope to see you again on your next visit to Halls Gap so you can see the changes we have made.

Nice location, emu and kangaroos. But not advisable for holiday periods as the camp site facilities is rather limited and cannot cope for the large number of campers.

Only about a dozen men and women toilet and shower facilities for over 200 camp sites. 2-3 wash areas for dishes. A camp kitchen which looks tired and in need of a good clean. Toaster, kettle, fridge available but are dirty unfortunately.

Toilets are always out of paper and not cleaned often enough with so many campers during Easter. Certainly oversold and facilities cannot cope. A pity as the area is beautiful.

This park has a lovely setting, with kangaroos and emus in the park and the potential to be great but needs a little TLC.
We booked days prior to arriving as we were told this area would be booked out. We stayed for three nights after easter - can understand that it is a busy time, but piles of garbage were lying around the waste bins late on Easter monday. Cabin floor had a build up of grime which we cleaned within a half hour using scouring pads and cleaning product as this was to be our home for three nights. Also cleaned the crockery, glassware and cutlery prior to using and the window sills. Laundry was dirty and we were glad we had our own ensuite. Maybe we just were there at the wrong time

The deal offered on the website was not what was given when we arrived at the campground. The room we were given had mattresses covered in mould, rusty and mouldy fridge, dirty cutlery and glasses, and no bed lined provided like the website said. Window sills were covered in dust, spiders in the fridge, footprints on the vinyl mattresses, chairs broken and fly wire screens broken.
No help was given by the staff, and they have refused to respond to our emails asking for a refund for this abysmal excuse for accommodation.

We spent 4 nights over the long Easter weekend on an unpowered campsite at this campground. The setting is magnificent and having kangaroos and emus hopping and walking through the park was a highlight of the place to us.

Unfortunately the facilities are outdated and very poorly maintained. There were only 3 sinks available for dishwashing for the entire campground... a total of 16 toilets and I think 8 showers (though I didn't count those...). For 250 sites, you can imagine the chaos.

To add insult to injury, the toilets were forever low on toilet paper, the entire toilet block absolutely filthy - due in part to rainy conditions, granted. There was no traditional mop to clean up after yourself either. The rubbish skips were overflowing as they weren't emptied daily. And late night parties went on into the wee hours, uninterrupted by any management.

Leaky kettles making the power trip in the camp kitchen...

Cannot recommend this campground at busy times, that's for sure.
