We really enjoyed our overnight stay. The chalet was clean and spacious and had basic kitchen equipment. The veranda had table and chairs, we sat watching the sunset over the mountain and kangaroos grazing on the lawn. The shops and amenities are within walking distance. A great place to relax.

We hadn't pre booked and therefore the surprise to find this little gem after a long drive from Portland on the coast cannot be underestimated. David made us very welcome and even allowed us to check out the spa cabin before we finally agreed to stay. We had cockatoos on our terrace and we had a hop by by the local wallabies all in the space of 20 mins after arriving.
Having a spa tube after a long drive was just great and aided a perfect nights sleep. The cabin was equipped to support the one night stay. Having wi-fi access only around the reception areas is both a blessing and a hindrance. However we did manage quite well being cut off from the world whilst enjoying this great Little oasis in the GAP.

This is a good location in Halls Gap which in turn is the place to be in the Grampians. This is the main feature that moves this place from average to very good. Well worn chalets probably proof of its popularity.Car parking adjacent to chalet is good point. We liked the birds, insects and kangaroos and Dave our host , all of which make there presence felt. Provide your own food and drink for breakfast etc not a problem as long as you are aware. Everything available at Local store [at a price]Our two nights stay probably not long enough.Lots of dead kangaroos on roadsides suggest its better to walk through the woods than on the road sides.

Took us a little while to locate as it well hidden in Halls Gap. It is a lovely spot, ideal to explore the surrounding countryside. We were made welcome by David the owner.
The studio was nice and spacious, The Spa whirlpool was very inviting especially as the weather was not so good around the turn of the year. We had our meals outside where we could watch all kinds of animals like kangoroos, deer, emus, cockatoos, Australian Magpies etc. It's like a private zoo but one should not forget that these are wild animals. No moskitos fortunately.
We wanted to do our own cooking. Unfortunately one of two rings of the cooker did not work. We found two pots to cook in, one for 1 litre and the other for 7 litres. The dishwasher did not work. We did not starve, however as we made do with what we found.
Most important was our feeling to be close to nature and animals.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights in December and really enjoyed the place. The cabins are very nice and spotlessly clean. They are also quite large and the kitchenette comes in handy. The owner's were very friendly and helpful and the only real problems were the cicadas and the lack of places to eat in Hall's Gap (neither of which were, obviously, the Resort's fault!). I would definitely recommend D'Altons to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay whilst checking out the natural beauty of the Grampians.

As an added tip check out Spirit of the Punjab restaurant across the road for dinner. They do good quality Indian food and the diorama out the front is cool!

We spent 2 nights at this excellent place. Individual cabins (some with own spa) nicely spaced, facing into a garden and petanque court. The cabin was roomy, with comfortable furniture and bed, aircon and all the basic kitchen equipment you'd need.

We arrived in Halls Gap on a hot evening to be greeted by the deafening sound of cicadas, louder than any back home! We walked into a cool cabin, shut the door and the sound of noisy cicadas diminished to become just background buzz.

The hosts were very friendly and helpful. There is a guest laundry - both washing and drying are free. They are a short walk from the centre of town and just across the road from a reasonably priced Indian restaurant.

I would be very happy to stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to other travellers.

Myself and my partner stayed here for three nights from the 8th of October. The proprietor and his wife were both charming and helpful, and made us feel very welcome. We stayed in a standard studio cottage which was very comfortable and clean. One slight issue we found was that the two ring hob in the kitchen area wasn't very good (we were largely self catering), but this is really a minor complaint, and in no way spoiled the magic of our stay. We had three superb days hiking in the Grampians, and a great stay at D'Altons. Incidentally there was easy access to free WiFi at the reception area. Highly recommended.
