“Great Value Motel in the Grampians”
Reviewed 22 August 2014

We were made very welcome by our hosts, Chris and Jeff and their knowledge of the Grampians attractions was excellent .
The motel is located just out of town on large beautifully maintained gardens with fantastic views and an abundance of wildlife, in particular Lemon tree the Kangaroo who is a bit of a celebrity at mealtimes.

Our deluxe room was very clean and modern with large bathroom and good water pressure in the shower
In the Views Cafe, Bar & Restaurant ( licensed) the meals are first rate and very good value whilst the wood fire was warm and cosy in the cooler weather that we experienced whilst we were there (August).
In all we had a great time and look forward to returning next year.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms have a nice view.

The motel was easy to find, it was right along Grampians Road & just 5 minutes away from the Information Centre (the one at Halls Gap township is closed for renovation). The motel is very near to Halls Gap township, about 5-10 minutes drive and the motel is also very close to the Grampians attractions (e.g. The Pinnacle, Grand Canyon)

We got upgraded to the deluxe room (which i think is bigger) & the room is big, clean and tidy. The design and the furniture is rather old and dated (think 1980s) but to me, the most important thing is the cleanliness of the place.

There is a water heater, fridge, utensils (e.g. cups, plates) and a hair dryer. They also provide shampoo & shower gel but you need your own toothbrush & toothpaste. The shower was large & powerful & every shower was amazing (esp in winter!). We had two well rested nights on the bed and the place was quiet and restful.

We had dinner at the restaurant on Saturday night and the food was good but a little pricey. But after comparing the food prices for the cafes in the Halls Gap township, I realized that the prices were relatively similar. The food was good & it was a nice experience having dinner in the restaurant and their resident kangaroo (Lemon Tree) will pop by during dinner time to get his dinner from one of the windows around the restaurant.

Overall, it was a great stay and also good value for money. I would recommend the motel to others traveling to the Grampians / Halls Gap area.

Note: There isn't much to do or buy at the Halls Gap township, so it would be a good idea to bring along some food / snacks if you do not want to spend money buying them from the limited supermarket at the Halls Gap township.

Room Tip: Not sure if all the rooms have wifi as we got upgraded to a deluxe room. Try to get a deluxe room if...

What attracted me to staying at this motel was the price and the spa being the bonus. I found other motels in the region a little pricey especially for basic rooms. Not even including a spa.

I wasn't aware it was a little drive out of town, but I was pleased it was. It was so tranquil and spacious. And an excellent wide walking/bike track all the way into town was available.

Loved the spa and him and her dressing gowns is a nice touch. Where we were situated we had the lovely view of the mountains. The decor in the main room was fresh and current. The bathroom was basic and dated but I loved the shower head. Finally a motel where you can have a decent shower instead of the horrible water saving gadgets. The whole room was spotless and clean.

We dined at the View restaurant. Our hosts advised us of a 70th birthday party that evening. That indicated to me I was in for a good nights feed lol. And I was not wrong in thinking so. Our hosts Christine and Jeff were very accommodating even under busy circumstances. They provided a lovely environment and fabulous food. We ordered the duck and chicken dishes and couldn't go pass the icecream with baileys and the panna cotta desserts. Divine!!!! They even had my favorite red wine, Pepperjack on the winelist.

Fabulous place the Grampians Motel. If you can't stay there at least try the restaurant.

Thanks to the friendly staff we had a very enjoyable stay. We would be looking to go back again soon. If you love peace and quiet and the great outdoors then this is the place for you. Plenty of native animals to see and get some great photos.

Check in was very friendly and informative, the rooms were good (stayed in a deluxe room), with a great view. Dinner at "The View" restaurant was excellent. The whole team was very friendly.

I only stayed one night which turned out to be a bit of a shame, there is a lot to do in the area and it would definitely warrant spending 3-4 days.
