“Great place!”
Reviewed 17 September 2012

We stayed here (2 couples) earlier this year and are just getting around to writing our review. Overall we had a very enjoybable stay and would definitely go back. The property is surrounded by farms and a bit off the beaten path, but still only a 5 minute's drive into Healesville. The best of both worlds. We went for a walk in the morning and surprised a pack of kangaroos just up the path from the vineyard.

The cottages are full of character - cozy, clean and well-appointed with a full kitchen, outdoor seating and BBQ. The beds were comfortable and as it was chilly outside, we made use of the electric blankets, fireplace, and spa.

If you are looking for a good wine tour or even just good recommendations on local wineries, go with Greg. He was very accomodating on short notice (we only booked the day before) and very knowledgeable about the local wineries, taking us to some lesser known but fantastic places. He is a very friendly, interesting guy and aside from the professional side of the tour, we really enjoyed spending the day with him.

Thanks for a great weekend getaway, we'll be back!

What a surreal experience ! Our family had a get together and booked cottage 3 and the studio cottage .We were overwhelmed by the surrounding views of autumn leaves in the vineyard and the graceful old trees and distant green hills. The alpacas noseyed right up to peer at us through the large picture windows.
This totally refurbished satellite station has new floors, kitchens, bathrooms, picture windows and private decks.
Sox our canine companion walked us around the vineyard in the picturesque valley where we saw kangaroos.
Our friendly hosts were hospitable and provided plenty of local knowledge.
My husband loved their TRELLIS pinot noir which we purchased and later discovered is rated 5 stars.
This is such a beautiful and peaceful place to unwind yet only minutes from great eateries and coffee spots in Healesville , not to mention all the amazing wineries in the Yarra Valley.
Valley Farm is such great value and we've already booked our next Nirvana !

I stayed here with two friends in late December. We located the property easily, it appears to be a little off the beaten track, but we appreciated being away from the bustle of the main street of Healesville and were greeted with the unfamiliarity of silence at night time.
We were welcomed by Greg and his two dogs, one of which became our constant companion during our stay. Greg explained the workings of the cottage to us and was forth-coming with local knowledge about the neighbouring wineries and we were happy with his suggestions - some of which were not originally on our radar.
The kitchen initally appeared to be small, but we comfortably cooked up hot breakfasts each morning and a roast for dinner on our final day, our only gripe about the kitchen is perhaps some of the pots/pans could be replaced??
The beds were comfortable and the rooms were dark once the lights were switched off, spacious bathroom with lots of hot water. We made use of the spa each night and had no problems with bugs are previously mentioned by another reviewer - though perhaps this is a weather/seasonal issue??
Cottage two was comfortable and relaxing, whether curled up with a book on the leather recliners in the living area (it was cold enough for us to to make us of the wood-fire one evening) or making use of the bbq on the front verdandah/porch shaded by over-hanging vines - we felt at home.
I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: As a group of three, we stayed in cottage two, which has two bedrooms and sleeps 4. For our sized gr...

Two couples stayed for a weekend in Cottage 3. Cottage was spotlessly clean, which made up for the rather tired kitchen, bathroom and couch. We had a fabulous time because we were looking for a place to stay with full cooking facilities and outdoor BBQ. Bed was very comfortable and linen clean. Bedroom 2 had blinds instead of drapes so it was very bright very early! On the last day, our loaf of bread was nibbled along the corner... In summary, it was a lovely place, but for the almost $600 it cost for two nights, some of the facilities need upgrading.

I have just returned from a 2 night stay in the 1 bedroom (studio) cottage at Valley Farm Vineyard. Valley farm is a working vineyard, alpaca breeding concern and has 3 cottages. We paid $165 per night for Cottage 1.

The positives are what other reviewers have mentioned; eg. great location, nice vistas, relaxing environment and that coupled with the novelty of having alpacas peering into your window (Cottage 1 anyway) and having a couple of very friendly resident border collies in Sox & Toby.

Cottage 1 lacks any real "wow factor". The decor is eclectic, sofa is old yet still comfortable, TV is small (22") and bed is comfortable. On top of this, when we arrived, greg (an exceedingly pleasant and helpful fellow) told us that he was still cleaning up the cottage after recent flood damage. Some stains were still apparent and the carpet & underlay was affected. This had never been communicated to my girlfirend who booked and paid for the escape many weeks prior. It would have been nice had Valley Farm communicated such issues prior to our arrival and perhaps offered a 100% refund or discount.

Furthermore the outdoor spa needs some help. It is in the open near cottage 2 and you are at the mercy of bugs aplenty. We had trouble getting the spa to activate and finally achieved 10 mins of bubble action before it decided it wouldn't play anymore. The spa and surrounds needs some extra luxuries and reliability to make you want to engage with it.

Having noted the above, we had a great time and would perhaps stay there again. Good place for the slightly budget concious. Don't bother if you want your senses to be overwhelmed.

We returned today from a weekend at Valley Farm. It was a perfect base from which to attend a concert at nearby Rochford Winery.
The 2 bedroom cottage was comfortable and had all we needed to thoroughly enjoy our stay, including BBQ and well equipped kitchen. The highlight of the weekend was the private wine tour hosted by Greg. A great day, relaxed, informative and terrific wines. From the alpacas, the vineyard setting, the cottage, the wines, the very sociable border collies and the host ... We loved it!
Most highly recommended!!
