Description: Old world charm with new world style, this classic country hotel is at the heart of the Yarra Valley. We are now offering great food, seven days of the week using the best of the season and region. Choose from a selection of smaller snacks and tastes to nibble on with your glass of local wine... Next, let us carve some of our famous K&B charcuterie; Italian parma ham, bresaola, Spanish salamis, and our house made pork, veal and pistachio terrine... served with crusty bread, little pickled vegetables and caper berries. Our kitchen are slow cooking local lamb shoulders for 12 hours... and roasting local Berkshire pork belly. Finish with Sophie's selection of perfectly ripened cheeses, hand picked from our copper cheese cabinet in our providore, Kitchen & Butcher. Our new menu also features hearty classic 'pub style' dishes to satisfy the hungriest diner.

“Living up to its reputation”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

We had lunch here today. The service is what impressed us at first, then to be wowed by the food. The staff are very knowledgeable regarding local produce and the wine region (YarraValley). They are passionate and happy and capable of making great wine recommendations.
I have never dined here before, however as I work in the wine industry in the valley, I know that that the dinning room has a reputation for quality food. We will be back, this was such a great dinning experience.
It's truffle season so if you are out this way make the dinning room a must and spoil yourself.

“A regional gem”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

Three of us dined, all choosing the tasting menu comprising five listed dishes and two additional complimentary dishes. A fantastic, rustique setting with good privacy and low noise levels. Food was flavoursome and plentiful, showcasing local produce. Each dish offered a 'yum' factor. Service was good, and if you appreciate wine, there is a good listing of Yarra Valley winemakers; similarly, if you appreciate beer, there is a good listing of regional micro-breweries.
We stayed overnight and whilst the rooms were spacious and comfortable, please note that the bathrooms are shared. In addition, noise from a local night-club was quite audible.

“Chef deserves the 'hat' award. Superb food”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

You have to expect to pay for the sort of high end cuisine you get here. The menu reflects the produce grown here, such as a rolled rabbit entree - superb and even little portions of Jerusalem artichokes. You can get truffles for a premium too. The presentation of every dish was as artistic as the tastes were balanced. I haven't been to a one hat restaurant for years and, yes, it is worth the money spent. Both the waiter and sommelier were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and certainly don't have that horrible air of superiority you get in some city establishments. They were very busy on the night which meant we had to find our own coats on leaving. But overall, well done to everyone, especially the chef in particular, for a fine dining experience. As we come to Healesville every year we will definitely be back for further gourmet experiences.

“Good high end pub meals”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

We wandered down to the hotel for a meal on a Wednesday night after a recommendation. It's a self service style venue - order drinks at the bar, get your own cutlery etc. the food was delicious - definitely not your standard pub food, in particular my grazing platter was amazing! They had the open fire going and also an outside seating area so great for dining in all seasons
