“Great Coffee”
Reviewed 28 August 2013

Cosy lane way cafe literally was a lane way converted into a cafe.
Great coffee and lovely snacks, had a bite of lunch which was very good
Returned for a coffee again the following day.
Only drawback is no skinny milk only full fat and soy.

“Good coffee”
Reviewed 9 August 2013

Great little coffee shop build from a narrow alley way between two shops. It's cozy, friendly, quiet and has good coffee. Didn't have any food there but the shelves were stocked with delicious looking regional treats. You have to look hard to find Essenza. Look for the Post Office and the shop selling Dryzabone & workwear.

“molto bello”
Reviewed 17 June 2013

close your eyes, sit back, enjoy the soundtrack and pretend you are in a little hidden espresso bar in Roma. The boys of Essenza have created a little magic out of an unused arcade between to shops. THE BEST COFFEE in town (not cheap but worth it) using locally roasted Silva coffee and full creamy milk (no skinny lattes here!). There is a range of tempting sweet things or simple little biscotti to accompany your coffee. Breakfast, brunch & lunch platters with a la minute prepared savoury offerings from the tiny backroom kitchen are mighty fine and if you are into it they serve coffee right through to 5 in the afternoon. These guys know their stuff and are hospitality experts. Essenza ti amo!!

“A little gem”
Reviewed 12 May 2013

Essenza is a uniquely small cafe jammed into what used to be the walkway through Gray's Arcade in Healesville. Church pews line the western wall and there are small tables more suitable to couples rather than larger groups, BUT fantastic food and coffee (tho no decaf and I believe no soy either). Wonderfully presented food including vegetarian options and they will also adjust dishes to suit. Great staff. This business also carries a range of goods including olive oils and various condiments. Not really suited to young children though and no toilets. Try this for something different if visiting Healesville.

“Heaven in a laneway”
Reviewed 22 April 2013

Picture a narrow laneway (about 2 metres wide) with a row of tables along one wall and barely enough room for the waiters to get by and you have an idea of what Essenza looks like.
Now if you add to that picture a really cosy/friendly atmosphere, very high levels of customer service, and the most wonderful Italian espresso bar/cafe-inspired delicacies imaginable, you'll know why it's so popular.
We called in for lunch the other day and chose an Antipasto platter for two which contained a really tasty (and plentiful) selection of meats, cheeses, pickles, spreads and breads. It was easily enough for two and every item on the platter was fresh and delicious.
We followed this with coffee and a really lovely slice of lemon curd cake. You can bet we'll be back for more...
