Absolutely adorable cottages, stunningly beautiful location. Quiet and peaceful, perfect for relaxing time away from the crazy city without the long drive. Highly recommended, will be visiting again soon!

We recently stayed in one of the cottages and have to agree with the other writers; this is a lovely place to stay. It is exceptionally clean, with a very comfortable bed and lounge. We were there in the warmer part of the year, but luckily it was (just) cold enough at night to light the fire. We were also able to sit out on the verandah and watch the sun set over the valley and the distant spires of Melbourne, and to spot the wombat and the rabbits in the garden.
The road up to the cottages was a bit scary, very narrow, gravel, and with a big drop on one side, but once we were there it was a very easy place to be.
I thought the range of books with the honesty box, and the art materials were the little extras which made this place an even more pleasant experience.

We have just returned from Lyrebird Cottages where we stayed in the Mountain Ash cottage. We've stayed in the Healesville region numerous times and this is by far the pick of the bunch! As other reviewers have said, they've thought of absolutely everything. Even though the weather wasn't great during our stay, there isn't a better place to watch the storms roll through or the native birds fly about while enjoying the comforts of the fire with a glass of local wine. It's also the best 2 person spa we've had in all the places we've stayed. We will definitely be back!

Have stayed here several times and it never disappoints. A very comfortable cottage with a fully equipped kitchen and excellent breakfast supplies. Pluses are the great variety of birdlife around the cottages, the wallabies and at sunset the wombat in the road adjacent to the cottages.

We have stayed in many cottages in the wine regions / hills around australia. we also travel a lot for work.

This cottage was fantastic! they have thought of everything. it was a luxury home away from home. we couldn't fault it.

the bed was comfy, the heater kept the whole house warm along with the open fire. the freshly provided breakfast foods were great. the view was amazing. the spa bath was nice.

thank you tessa and stewart, you've done a great job!

With the heater blazing and the door unlocked we walked right in and made ourselves at home!

There were no annoying reception counters, no 'fill in your breakfast menu before you sit down', no tight little space to huddle in with the only escape being a verandah over looking a busy street...

This cottage was AMAZING!

There are so many wonderful little touches that I don't even know where to begin!
These cottages are a mix of mud brick and windows! Everywhere! The views are amazing, no matter how cold it is, you can't bring yourself to close the blinds till it is so so dark there's nothing to see but black!

What to do then? Order a meal! These guys make their own meals, you order, they deliver to your door and you chuck it in the oven, just like a home cooked meal! What could make a get away any better? Fresh breakfast maybe... All waiting for you in the fridge, with fresh bread, bacon, eggs and oranges to make some juice... ohh we were in heaven!

If I haven't convinced you yet that this darling cottage is now my second home then let me mention the private spa, with essential oils, and the bottle of bubbles in the fridge, or if you prefer a white or red you'll be happy too!

Throw on your robe and slippers, grab those extra blankets in the cupboard and crack out some scrabble before you jump into the most comfortable bed. With it's marshmallow doona and pillows, you won't want to leave! Ever!

There is a track that you can walk through, taking past lyre birds, wallabies and all sorts of wild life! It can get a bit muddy so I suggest you bring some walking shoes (not your pretty patent leather slips ons).

I could go on and on... But I wouldn't want to ruin the excitement for you.

Be sure to check the map before you book, this little gem is on a few gravely roads, and a little bit out of town... Totally worth it though! And everything you need is right there!

Lyrebird Cottages is a magical place! Weather you are an extreme romantic, someone who loves nature or you just need some time to yourself then you will love this place!

We loved staying here. It is just a 15 minute (or less) drive from the town of Healesville, so it's close to everything, yet very private. (Healesville has restaurants, wineries, grocery stores and shops.) The cottage is bright and cozy and they have everything you could possibly want - a jacuzzzi tub, a deck with gorgeous views, a wood burning stove, a cd player and DVD player, binnoculars to use, a fully equipped kitchen etc.

The landscape is mesmerizing and we just wanted to sit on the deck and take in the sounds and sights. We saw parrots and a wombat, and heard beautiful bird songs. The two cottages are surrounded by woods but with a clearing around them, so that you have a great view, and can even see the lights of Melbourne at night way off in the distance. And...the stars are amazing as well. We could not recommend this more highly - it was a memory of Australia that will stay with us.
