“We didn't want to leave!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2012

After having a friend from Perth recommend Lyrebird Cottages with such high accolades it certainly did not disappoint.
The location is absolutely amazing! The drive up to the cottages and their scenic surrounds are gorgeous with views over the lights of Melbourne at night. The cottage itself was outstanding; bed was comfy, we loved the large spa in the spacious bathroom and the kitchen was very well equipped. The owners have thought of everything with a good selection of books, CD's, DVD's in the lounge and ingredients supplied for an absolutely delicious breakfast.
Will be recommending this one to everyone, it made our stay in Victoria :)

What a sweet, sweet home away from home! This 2-cottage retreat is hidden in the hill about 15 minutes from Healsville. Every corner within the cottage and surrounding the cottage is just perfect for holiday. The open kitchen is well equipped. The leisure corner is equipped with a selection of thoughtful CDs, books, etc. We will definitely go back again to spend a longer holiday.

Room Tip: Arrive early, and spend a quiet afternoon, appreciating the garden and the hillside. Have an early...

Absolutely adorable cottages, stunningly beautiful location. Quiet and peaceful, perfect for relaxing time away from the crazy city without the long drive. Highly recommended, will be visiting again soon!

We recently stayed in one of the cottages and have to agree with the other writers; this is a lovely place to stay. It is exceptionally clean, with a very comfortable bed and lounge. We were there in the warmer part of the year, but luckily it was (just) cold enough at night to light the fire. We were also able to sit out on the verandah and watch the sun set over the valley and the distant spires of Melbourne, and to spot the wombat and the rabbits in the garden.
The road up to the cottages was a bit scary, very narrow, gravel, and with a big drop on one side, but once we were there it was a very easy place to be.
I thought the range of books with the honesty box, and the art materials were the little extras which made this place an even more pleasant experience.

We have just returned from Lyrebird Cottages where we stayed in the Mountain Ash cottage. We've stayed in the Healesville region numerous times and this is by far the pick of the bunch! As other reviewers have said, they've thought of absolutely everything. Even though the weather wasn't great during our stay, there isn't a better place to watch the storms roll through or the native birds fly about while enjoying the comforts of the fire with a glass of local wine. It's also the best 2 person spa we've had in all the places we've stayed. We will definitely be back!

Have stayed here several times and it never disappoints. A very comfortable cottage with a fully equipped kitchen and excellent breakfast supplies. Pluses are the great variety of birdlife around the cottages, the wallabies and at sunset the wombat in the road adjacent to the cottages.

We have stayed in many cottages in the wine regions / hills around australia. we also travel a lot for work.

This cottage was fantastic! they have thought of everything. it was a luxury home away from home. we couldn't fault it.

the bed was comfy, the heater kept the whole house warm along with the open fire. the freshly provided breakfast foods were great. the view was amazing. the spa bath was nice.

thank you tessa and stewart, you've done a great job!
