“Absolutely excellent.”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

We were looking for an overnight stop off on our drive from Adelaide to Melbourne via the Great Ocean Road. We chose St Patrick's as it looked a bit different and the Tripadvisor reviews were so positive (with a puzzling exception). It is in a country town, about 10 minutes drive from Port Fairy. Our experience was absolutely excellent. Vivienne, the owner, could not have been more welcoming or helpful. We had room 5, a lovely spacious room with a 5+ star bathroom. Vivienne recommended various possibilities for dinner. We went to the most local, Alix's - it proved to be an excellent choice which I have reviewed separately. We walked there (about 10 minutes away) so I could have a drink. As Vivienne predicted, when they heard we were from "the Convent" (St Patrick's was a convent in the past) they drove us home. We were particularly fortunate as we were staying on an evening when Vivienne was entertaining a group of local people. She invited us to join them after our dinner and we had a most enjoyable hour or two with a group of really friendly and interesting people. Breakfast was excellent. This was a great place to stay, and we had a really memorable evening. It is a long way from Scotland - but we hope to be back again!

Beautiful place with attention to detail every room has a different look and aura to it. It kind of took me back in time and gave us a feeling of a home rather then being in a hotel. Vivienne was an amazing host, she walked us through the beautiful place showing us around and introduced us to her lovely doggies. the stay was so relaxing and the little things that made it even special were the chocolates on the bed and the home made cookies in the tray which were delicious, we had our brekky by the fireplace, everything was so nice and cosy. I would love to visit again i felt really pampered. they have a beautiful collection on antiques from India .

A must for anyone who loves luxurious surroundings with a touch of history. All the rooms are beautifully decorated- this really is an amazing place unlike no other. If you want to feel like you have stumbled onto the set of 'Downton Abbey' this is the place for you.

Stayed here for one night, wish we made it two. The room was so relaxing and the decor was amazing! To say this place is eclectic would be an understatement, but it all works exceedingly well. There are 5 bedrooms to choose from, we were in bedroom 5.

It's about 10 minuets away from Warnambool; but as we were driving the Great Ocean Rd, the distance made no difference to us. Will be returning ASAP!

Room Tip: I know the bathroom of bedroom 4 is tempting, but go bedroom 5 - it has a spa and the sun comes stre...

My wife and I recently had business in Melbourne and decided to go down early and explore the Great Ocean Road. My wife, Joanne, did a search and selected Saint Patrick's at Koroit from the description of "Luxury Boutique Hotel" and when she checked the website it just looked so beautiful and so special.

Our trip was in April so the weather was overcast and grey which for us is ideal, not cold enough for a fire but almost. As we drove up to St. Patrick's we were so pleased to see it was just as we had expected from the website. We were met at the impressive front door by Vivienne who was very warm and friendly and gave us the grand tour. Almost every room was devine, there was still some renovation work being done in the chapel, the colours were so rich and warm and inviting. Each room was decorated in its own style with furniture and fittings selected by the hosts either bought or sourced from their own collection. The front reception room is decorated in lovely tones of Lilac in an art deco style (my wife's favourite) with the two of the armchairs reupholstered cleverly with some Versace fabric mixed with other fabric to make up the shortfall in meterage. the adjacent room is setup as a formal dining room but in a luscious red theme with discrete suggestions of a tiger pattern. The tour continued through the light blue "computer room/sitting room", the lavish drawing room with half the room furnished in a more masculine style, the other half obviously more fitting for the ladies. This room also has a cocktail cabinet with complimentary Sherry and Port but also available to buy on an honour system is a selection of wines and champagne. The kitchen and dining room are combined together so that you can have a chat with Dawn as she prepares your individual breakfasts (no bain-maries here) while you start with seasonal fruits or cereal or home made breads coated with a selection of similarly home made jams (I personally loved the Mandarin and Brandy marmalade). Furniture in the dining room varies from table to table as each one is an individual homely set all beautifully dressed with different cruets but with the same beautiful crockery and cutlery.

We were taken up to our room which is named after a Sister who I assume used to reside here when it was a nunnery. Ours was no.5 Sister Christina, a beautiful queen bed, with damask curtains puddling onto the floor, 2 lovely armchairs apparently brought from India and the dressing table was also part of Vivienne's own bedroom furniture. The bathroom was spacious with a double rain head shower and a large double spa bath.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights and were the sole guests on the second night as this was midweek just after the easter weekend. The service was exemplary, we had the feeling that the hosts loved their jobs, loved their business and were good at it. We were recommended to 2 eateries in Koroit for our evening meals and loved them both. The first night we went to the Koroit Hotel and I had a delicious red lamb curry while my wife had beer battered fish and chips which we both thoroughly enjoyed. On the second night we went to Alex's which was unusual in that you had to go through the takeaway in the front of the shop, past a rather empty front restaurant out to a rather colourfully decorated rear room and bar area where there was a large group of people already seated. This area is decorated a-la Ettamogah Pub and the food here was superb, Paella for Jo and Pad Thai for me.

An added bonus for us was that there are 2 resident Labradoodles, Pluto and Rocco, who are generally kept apart from the guest areas but if you are a doglover they can be sought out and you can play a game of fetch with them.

Book and stay here, you won't be disappointed.

We stayed for two nights on a recent driving holiday. The place was a bit hard to find, there is no signage on the Main Street of Keroit or even in front of the site. There is a sign on the front of the building but the building is set back from the road in a side street so it does take a bit of effort to spot.

When you do find it however it is lovely, this old convent has been restored with great love inside and out and is now a very unique small hotel. The owner Viv has put much of her personal taste and possessions into this place and clearly has a great flare for interior design. Rooms are lovely, we stayed in room 4 which is the largest but we managed to have a look at all of them (there are only five) there are also a number of great common rooms also nicely finished.

When we stayed the hotel was very quiet, on our first night we were the only guests, on the second one other couple, this made the place feel less like a hotel and more like staying in someone's house, this may not be to everyone's taste.

Breakfast was nice enough and the hostess Viv very freindly if perhaps a bit to attentitive. Overall staying here is a little like a cross between staying in a very unique five star hotel and staying at a distant relatives house.

A nice couple of days, we would happily stay again.

Room Tip: Pay for one of the bigger rooms, the smallest is small and if you are going to stay here you might a...
