We had booked to stay elsewhere in Olinda but were disppointed when we arrived so we stopped at the Loft in the Mill to see what rooms they had available.
We were immediately impressed by the professionalism of the owners who showed us three available rooms. They were all beautifully furnished and clean. We ended up staying for 2 nights in the Loft Suite and it was perfect - spacious and very well decorated.
The owners could not have been more helpful, arranging restaurant reservations with transport provided at the Sky High restaurant and the WIld Oak restaurant in Olinda.
The hotel's in a great location to explore the Olinda shops. We had a relaxing stay and were sad to leave.

I must say a special thanks to Brad Stevens at the Loft In the Mill for his wonderfull service.

I called on the weekend and he was extremly helpful and i have booked the Loft Suite.
Brad and his staff are wonderful and as i work interstate it is the first time i will be seeing the girlfriend (fiance to be??) in nearly 6 months, and they are doing everything to make my stay at the Loft enjoyable and easy.

Brad has assured a strech limo to dinner and also a window seat for dinner at the Sky High restruant and a limo ride back to the suit.

All of his trouble and efforts are greatly appreciated and i reakon my girlfriend and i will have a marvellous weekend and the only thing that is left to me is to ask the question :) Everything else is being looked after by Brad and the staff.

Thanks mate and i cant wait to get there and enjoy the weekend and will keep you all updated on the stay.

All i can say from what i know already it will be great.

Thanks again

We were at the Loft in the Mill with our toddler and stayed at the Calico room for 2 nights. It is a lovely room which has its own little patio. The Calico room is on the ground floor of the main building and has its own entrance, so it is very private and the little patio is all yours. The room itself is spacious. You will enter into the living area with a sofa bed (could fit 2 pax) and television, this room also accommodated the dining area and kitchenette. The bedroom is a separate connecting room, which is warm and cosy. The bathroom is spacious, with well-stocked toiletries and is fitted with a Jacuzzi. As it could get chilly in autumn, our bathing suits got their ‘airtime’ indoors – in the Jacuzzi and our toddler had a great time. The room is also equipped with heater to keep you warm on chilly nights.

Check-in is fuss-free. At the reception you can always ask for help getting around or recommendations in the area. They also have DVDs which you could watch in your room, with ample choices for kids entertainment as well.

Loft in the Mill is right in the Olinda town so shops and eating places are within walking distance. Other charming villages and attractions in the Dandenong Ranges are very accessible by car from Olinda.

Overall, we had a great stay at the Loft in the Mill, specifically at the Calico Room.

Room Tip: Calico room is suitable for family of 3-4 pax.

Me and my partner stayed at the loft in the mill for one night just recently. After looking at photos we chose a tudor room at 155 a night and were extremely dissapointed. The walls, the bathroom, the couch and the carpet were very old. The couch was dirty and had evident stains on it, the bathroom was tiny and shower could barely fit one person in it and the carpet was filfthy and the room smelt so for 155 i was definetely not prepared to stay the night. I have attached photos also to support this. We stay at hotels regularly all over melbourne cbd and in other locations such as warnambool, torquay, phillip island, etc, both in 4 star and 5star and have never seen anything so overpriced. That room should be 50 a night, no more! we could of stayed at parkview in stkilda or the blackman which is a top 5 star hotel for 166 a night during the week. people should do their research. Anyhow we brought it to their attention and they would not give us a refund after i stated it was not what we expected and didnt show the full room in photos and looked nothing like the photos and to add to that my partner was getting allergic reactions in the room. I actually work for consumer affairs since graduating and i could have argued the owners point that we werent entitled to a refund and they had to put a sign up to see if anyone else would take the room so they could get their money. moving forward they were polite about it and wanted to try and negotiate with another room so we said ok. We ended up staying in the callico suite for 185 a night which again is way too overpriced for what it is. The only 4 star area was their new bathroom, again the carpets were filfth, amenities and furniture very old and dirty, there was spider webs above us everywhere and we had to kill 5 spiders in there and the tv is located in a funny spot where you cant watch it from the couch or the bed. I wouldnt stay there again. I know there is other suites for a higher price but we had a look at the 2 that we did, and wouldnt pay that money again to stay in poor quality rooms. I think this feedback has been given before.

Room Tip: King arthur suite looks fantastic in photos but again not sure when you come face to face with it. Had we had a better experience we may have returned to try it out on a special occassion.

Theres not enough i can say about this place. Ive actually stayed here several times because i love it so much. Each room has its own charm and character. Beautiful, very comfortable, and really i think you have to see it for yourself. Great in any time of the year aswell, with both air con and heating if required.

I loved it soo much that i actually stayed here for my wedding, and used their beautiful grounds for a backdrop for my pre-ceremony photos.

Heather, Donna and Brad are such lovely people who will try and make your stay the most comfortable as possible, always smiling and there to help you, they'll even book a free limo to sky high restaurant for you (as long as it isnt a sat night). They really do make you feel like you have a home away from home, nestled in these beautiful mountains.

I reckon all the rooms a wonderful but i must admit my fav room is the hathaway, very spacious and contains not only a four poster king bed but also a four poster spa :)

Beautiful location right in the heart of Olinda, close to famous and beautiful gardens, many activities, and a great restaurants.

Surprisingly the loft in the mill is actually one of the cheaper boutique motels on the mountain, and for what you get its really good value for money.

Esp good for a romantic weekend away and being only an hour out of melbourne you can make it a quick getaway.

Room Tip: the staff are soo lovely that they'll even allow you to inspect the room (if theres no one currently in it) and offer pictures online to help you decide on the room thats perfect for you
