Whilst down in Queenscliff with 8 girls for a Hens weekend, we decided to have dinner at the Vue Grand. Booking into the Vue Bar was a great idea, we chose a selection of goodies for the table to share and they were all delicious. Dishes to note were the Pulled Pork Sliders, Calamari and Cajun Chicken Pizza. The Wine list is limited, but there are some great local wines available. The staff were amazing and were happy for the hens to have a little bit of fun which was great. Also helped that the building is awesome! We will definitely be visiting again when we are next in Queenscliff.

We had the Bellarine 5 Course Tasting menu. Don't bother looking up the menu prior to dining as the courses change depending on produce available on the night. However, we were not disappointed as the food was superb and attractively presented - what was it that they say you eat with your eyes?.... This was certainly the case. The staff was knowledgeable and unobtrusively attentive - in a grand and big dining room which was only half full, on a Saturday night (what a shame), it was a relief that they did not hover constantly. At $85.00 pp + drinks it was not overly pricey for the fine dining atmosphere (no modern contemporary fixtures and fittings but classical period grandeur befitting the Vue Grand iconic status). And more importantly, there was fine food. Long may the Vue Grand remain grand.

I was by myself and had an overnight stay in this lovely old hotel. My room # 14 was well appointed and I was impressed with the very high ceilings throughout the hotel. The Grand Dining room where I had a lovely breakfast reminded me of the Tea Room in Sydney's Queen Victoria building. Very "Grand".

The hotel seemed popular with locals and visitors and staff were always friendly and accommodating for my requests.

We spent our wedding night at this hotel 14 years ago and so returned for our Wedding Anniversary. We did thoroughly enjoy our stay in this beautiful old building but there were a few things that we thought let the whole experience down.

Firstly, the good things. The service that we received from the time of booking to the time of checking in was excellent. I had told them when I booked that it was our wedding anniversary and that we had spent our wedding night there. We had dinner in the Main Dining Room and chose the Bellarine Tasting Menu with matching wines. I can't remember the waiter's name, but the service was impeccable and his knowledge of each of the dishes and wines was incredible. They brought us a special plate to celebrate out anniversary which was a lovely touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our night.

We stayed in the Bayview Tower Suite and the view across to the bay was fantastic. The room was spacious and the bed incredibly comfortable. The gas flame heater was a nice touch and gave a cosy feel to the room.

On the downside, there was a lot of noise from the room above us. We could here every time sometime walked across the room. The hotel is also showing signs of age. Some of the paint was peeling from the walls of our room and the windows also could do with a bit of a clean. Overall, the hotel could probably do with a few renovations. There was a small cheap digital clock radio, which looked quite out of place and there were no tissues which seemed quite odd.
The breakfast was included in our room rate. It was very basic buffet breakfast which included the usual cereal, fruit & toast. There were precooked eggs (scrambled or poached) hash browns, tomato, bacon, mushrooms all being kept warm in bainmaries. There was also brewed coffee on a warmer, and hot water in a thermos for tea. After the "Silver Service" experience from dinner the night before, we felt very let down by breakfast.

We were happy we stayed here and had really enjoyed the sensational dinner, but for the rate charged for these rooms, I would have expected just a little bit more.

Room Tip: Bayview Tower suite has a great view.

My husband and I recently celeberated our wedding at the Vue Grand.
From the initial planning stages to the finale on the day and every touch point in between the staff had all been wonderful to work with. We had the pleasure of staying in the Turret Room which is just amazing, I also had the opportunity to see the Superior Rooms which are enormous and wonderful. Yes the interior is older, darker, with herritage decor however thats what makes is so special when staying at the "Grand".

The food on the night was exceptional and the breakfast the next day was fresh and delicious.
We loved everything about the Vue Grand, the rooms, the ambience, the amazing food and most importantly the smiling, courteous, professional and delightful staff that delivered exceptional service.
We have dined and I have stayed previously at this hotel. Everytime I have had a wonderful experience!

Thank you for creating the best day! PS We recommend the Blues Train when staying at the Vue Grand!

Room Tip: If you want to spoil yourself go the Turret if not request a Superior Room! They are huge. Balcony r...

We stayed in a Balacony Room which was very nice, clean and quiet. The hotel is showing signs of age and needs a bit of refurbishment. I was looking forward to Boutique beers on tap in the bar during the AFL Prelim Final. The front bar was closed Sat night, had to watch on a fuzzy back bar TV drinking stubbies (dearer option). The cooked breakfast was very ordinary, inedible bacon, soggy eggs etx. The breakfast closed 9am but painters were in sanding away at 8.45 on out last day.

Spent two nights at the Vue Grand and dined in the magnificent dining room. The Superior room was enormous and good value for money. The service at Reception was excellent but the highlight was the dinner and the faultless service in the main dining room. The detail to attention by the young Waiter was so good we will be definitely dining there again, overall we could not fault the service of the entire friendly Staff of the Hotel.
If I have one criticism of the Hotel, it is that it is in need of a complete renovation and brighter colour scheme to enhance the beauty of this magnificent grand building as in it's present stage is looking very tired indeed.
