A Wine Weekend Getaway at the Victoria Hotel
We had a great time and Sarah, you were brilliant, but we feel you were let down by a couple of issues
1) When we arrived on a cold winter's afternoon, it was to a not-too-warm welcome from the lady behind the bar. She seemed to know very little about our booking, in fact informing us we did not have a booking that night! We asked her if she was full, the answer was 'No' but she would go and chack the ensuite room. She came back down and told us it was 'fine'. We asked her about breakfast the next morning, to be told 'we don't do breakfast' (this was included in our package). When we went to the room it was freezing, she had not put the heater on when she had popped up, would have made all the difference to that first impression.
2)We know it is an Historic building with enormous ceilings, but the bathroom was polar. Cold lino on the floor would have been a little easier on the feet with the addition of a couple of towelling footmats, also would have been a lot more comfy stepping out of the shower!
3)We ate two nights running in the restaurant. The first night was great, we really enjoyed it. The second night, however, was very different. The room was cold, other customers were sitting eating in coats and scarves. The single gas fire was barely throwing out enough heat, it was draughty (the front door of the hotel kept open all evening) and worse, the gorgeous food (which was really gorgeous) was served on plares that were freezing. My steak was cooling down quicker than I could eat it, such a shame as the chef had done a great job, why couldn't the plates be hot?

Other than that, we had a great time and sorry if it sounds as if we didn't. The issues there are would be cheap and easy to rectify and would make so much difference to the overall experience.

We will come in summer next time!!

Dear Sue

Thank you for your review, I am sorry we did not meet your expectations in all areas and we appreciate you taking the time to provide us with feedback so that we can continue to improve the hotel.

I have taken your very worthy comments on board and added extra bathmats in the rooms and we are now heating plates for meals in order to avoid the food going cold.

I am glad you enjoyed the meals and hope on your next visit you will find other aspects of the hotel improved.

Sarah

I just returned from a 3 night getaway with some girlfriends where we stayed at Victoria Hotel as part of the fabulous Boobs, Bikes & Bubbles package. The value of the deal far exceeded my expectations, but what really made the trip so much fun, was the warmth and hospitality of not just Sarah and her team at the hotel, but the whole community. We were welcomed everywhere we travelled, even when we were giggly with hunger and exhaustion (and perhaps bubbles)! I would thoroughly recommend this holiday for all! (sarah also does deals for the blokes).

Can't think of a better way to catch up with friends. The "boobs, bikes and bubbles" package at the victoria hotel far exceded all my expectations. Excellent food, wonderful hospitality and beautiful wine with a touch of exercise so there was no need to feel guilty about consuming too much, and it was great value. At the end of each day, the victoria hotel was warm and welcoming, and Sarah is the perfect host.

I've just come back from 3 nights at the Victoria Hotel, Rutherglen - possibly the best girly vacation ever! My 4 friends and I spent two full days riding around the Rutherglen region, sampling wines and eating delicious food. We were treated as VIPs everywhere we went and found all the locals extremely friendly and welcoming. We especially enjoyed the food at the "Wicked Virgin" and "Jones Winery". Our complimentary massage at the end of the second day was just what we needed to round out a perfect mini-break. Thanks for organising a fabulous few days Sarah.

Let Sarah pull you a beer, and Sean muster you up a perfectly cooked steak in this original and unspoilt country pub.
This well travelled couple with years of experience, seem to have plenty of passion in the restoration of this beautiful building.
Go back in time as you walk through the halls and up the old staircase to your traditional pub lodging. A classic comfy room with ensuite, perfect for relaxing and rejuvenating after a full day of cellar door action.
We would highly recommend 'The Vic' to anyone.

A wonderful weekend had by myself and five girlfriends in early May. Amazing local food and wine; rustic, warm and comfy accommodation; delightful hosts; a front bar oozing with charm and a roaring open fire - can't wait to bring the family back to experience it all over again! Thank you so much Sarah - a girl’s weekend we will cherish!

Nine girlfriends and I went on the Boobs, Bikes and Bubbles weekend and had an awesome time. Sarah was extremely helpful in the organisation of the weekend and that didn't stop after we arrived. I've never met anybody more perfectly suited to hospitality than Sarah and her team. Nothing phased her and the girls in my group certainly tested her tolerance levels. The accommodation was rustic but charming. The bar was comfortable and the restaurant quality was very high. As for value for money, we paid $275 for two nights accommodation, two continental breakfasts, one dinner, one lunch, champagne welcoming drinks, a 30 minute massage and a t-shirt. Unbelievably great value. Would highly recommend the Victoria Hotel and the wonderfully organized events and offers that they have. Thanks for a great weekend Sarah.
