This was the second time we have stayed at the Tuileries in Rutherglen in the last 7 months. Our first experience in January was excellent so we decided to stay there again on our way back from Sydney.
The rooms are quite nice and very comfortable. The glass sliding doors open onto your own decking which has a table and chairs and overlooks vines. It is extremely relaxing and quiet sitting there and watching the stars whilst having a drink. After a long drive from Sydney, the quiet is very welcome.
The restaurant was as outstanding as it was on our last visit. The degustation menu looked great but there is a lot of food so if you are going to have it, I would suggest not eating for the day to enjoy it. We chose not to have it as a 7 course meal would have been far too much for us given we had a late lunch.
We did have a 3 course meal and the food was excellent. It was beautifully presented and the flavours of all courses was outstanding. You would not expect a country hotel to be serving food of such great quality and presentation. Compliments to the wonderful chef on the menu.
The staff at the restaurant were friendly and always available to offer advice or answer queries about the food and wine list.
The wine buffet is excellent value for money. There are 5 whites and 5 reds which you can have as much of whilst dining there. For $23 per person it is sensational value.
We have booked their accomodation and food package and it is excellent value as you get a nice room, a 3 course dinner from the menu and also breakfast.
The location is just on the edge of the town and close to many wineries and other attractions.
We will certainly be going back again as we have had a great experience on both occassions we have been there.

We stayed in Room 8 and started off the booking process on rocky ground after asking which photos were specifically of the room. Tony, the manager, wanted to know why I needed to see the room and was extremely abrupt and rude as soon as I mentioned tripadvisor reviews. He was actually encouraging me to go elsewhere and after I ploughed through with my insistence that we DID want to book, he apologised and then things ran fairly smoothly after that. Tony asked to see us at check in (I gather to apologise in person) but we were late checking in and missed him again the following morning.
We were extremely grateful and impressed that the kitchen stayed open for us as we had a reservation at the cafe for 8:30 but encountered massive road closures along the highway from Melbourne. We ended up arriving around 9:30pm absolutely starving and the meal was excellent. Breakfast the next morning was also exceptional.
The unit itself was very spacious, comfy beds and the position was excellent at the end of the main street.
On the down side, the noise of the heater/ air con unit was unbearable and we had to turn the heater off to get to sleep, it was so loud. Also, the carpet needed a more thorough vacuum as– there was leaves/ dirt on carpet in different spots (off shoes I would expect –- we took ours off inside).
The toilet roll holder kept falling off wall and wouldn’t hold the roll. Wi-Fi was not accessible until following day, and even then it was in one location only and I had to stand to hold laptop and pick up signal. The carpet and couch were very stained and I did not feel like sitting on the couch due to the stains.
All of this was reported to Tony after we checked out and his responses re. maintenance seemed attentive to the issues. Let's hope it is fixed up by now for future guests.
There was also a TV bracket in the main bedroom but no TV.
Overall a pleasant stay and we would stay again but would need to ensure heater was working normally and that Wi Fi was accessible, as I need it when I travel. Full marks to the cafe - service and food is superb!

We stayed here for only one night on the way back from Canberra and had a two bedroom unit. The package included dinner and breakfast. Dinner was sensational. We had our 10 year old son who ordered food from the kids menu and it came out with out food and was presented a a real meal rather than just a kids dish. He loved it and hoed through all 3 courses. Breakfast in the cafe was the best breakfast we have had in a week of being away. Package was great value and we will certainly be staying there again.

We love Tuileries - we travel around a lot. Whenever we know we are heading up the highway to Tuileries there is palpable relief in the car. This is the place where every part of your being can be restored.
In fact when we stay here we choose to travel an extra 30 minutes each way for work simply because everything about Tuileries is perfect.
I cannot believe the recent negative review. We have been staying here for a number of years and I can only wonder if there is a parallel universe somewhere that likes to play tricks.
Our experience is always one of great thoughtfulness and attention to detail to make the stay here as wonderful as possible.
There is a generosity at Tuileries that is very rare.
The rooms are excellent; space, light, view, spa, comfortable king bed, there is a choice of two restaurants or room service.
The staff without exception are efficient, knowledgeable and friendly.
Tuileries is a gem.

We stayed midweek at Tuileries in a “Mews” room on a dinner bed and breakfast package and could not fault the property, the staff or the quality of the food.
We found it very comfortable, relaxing and value for money. An added bonus was “walking distance to the centre of town”. We plan to return for a longer stay in the future.

We were about to write a review of our stay at Tuileries when we saw the "what a joke" review. We stayed in a mews room recently, as we usually do, as they are more like a suite than a room. We had a wonderful stay, the room was spotless, food was great, staff very friendly. We will be back. Maybe they stayed at another Tuileries!!

We did the dinner bed and breakfast deal which we thought was great value. The meal at night was top shelf and our room number 12 was beautiful. THe furnishings, the bed, the bath room, the view all brilliant. The room had a comfy full size lounge and a dining setting so it was plenty big enough coupled with a covered verandah and outdoor setting.
Only negative for a fitness freak was that the main gym equipment was broken ( cables loose so the weight machine did not work) but that was the only negative.
Short two block walk to the main street of shops.
