At the rates charged it is acceptable. Rooms are a good size with basic facilites, nothing special but is is clean. Didn't like to bathroom basin which was a steel tub designed for kitchen or laundry with a mixer tab. No breakfast available and although the sign says Foxtel I couldn't find it. Bed on the soft side. No easy chair or couch but a small table with chairs. Microwave and basic tea/coffee making supplies.

The rooms in this hotel are very large, but basically furnished. Beds are firm and comfortable, my room had a sofa and a dining table, as well as a microwave oven and toaster. Not so good, despite the sign outside saying different, no cable/satellite TV, only free-to-air; and the heating supplied by the air conditioner was not up to the current cold spell.

Parking is a bit chaotic. There seemed to be quite a few rooms with more than one car per room, and not much concern about parking in other rooms' spaces. A bit of guidance from the hotel manager to selfish guests might be appropriate.

The only real problem with this hotel is its location, on the corner of two busy roads. There was constant (and loud) traffic noise all night. Earplugs corrected the problem, but if you didn't have any you'd be complaining.

In summary, the hotel is spacious, good value, but just a little too noisy to get a higher rating.

We were returning our rental car to the airport the next morning and came off the freeway but had trouble finding a motel in Sunbury which is only 15 minutes or so to the airport- turns out after asking that this is the only one, and therefore is popular. Seemed to be lots of workers staying there so the parking area was quite busy with bigger vehicles. The room was average, basic, Ok like others have said. Our heater didn't work that well. The woman at reception was helpful when we asked about eating - recommended the pub - Olive Inn - a few minutes drive into the center which had a very good selection at good prices. Also lots of cafes for coffee and muffin in the morning. I guess a summary is convenient for the airport and people working in the area.

This motel only survives because it is one of 2 in town. Trying to book a room by phone was a major issue with a child answering the phone and hanging up twice. Finally we had a booking with a very unhelpful male who had trouble with English. We arrived and went to reception, only wanted the cash no "hi how are you", no "please" , no "thank you". At $130 for the night i thought it was at the top end for what we got, simply a clean room with all the usuals, cheapest fittings possible and no breakfast, yes I mean no breakfast service at all. bed needed changing fell into the middle all night. Advertised Foxtel but was not available. Went to check out at around 9-15am and reception was still closed. Overproced with ZERO service. Cheaper in the city and drive the 38 kms is my advice.

Room Tip: Take your pick all avaerage

Read a review by someone else and can confirm it’s a very basic but it’s a convenient place to stay if your travelling from airport or Melbourne to Bendigo.

It’s a bit of a walk to the main shopping areas but has a gas station nearby (accross the road) where you can by a few things if you need to.

No pool or other fancy stuff here - just think of a room.

Room Tip: Sunbury is the birthplace of the Ashes - English Cricket Game.

Our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. I won't repeat details that are already quoted in other reviews but wish to add that the beds are very firm which I like, but no 'comfort' layer, so feel a bit hard. I remedied this by folding up a blanket and inserting under the mattress protector. Apart from this, very clean and neat. There was a comfortable range of thin and thick pillows that appeared to be quite new, and the female staff member was helpful in providing another yet another thin pillow for our 5 yo son. I also appreciated the blackout curtains, the big ironing board and iron available in the room. Bring your own milk if you don't like the little UHT milks.

Room Tip: There are some rooms facing the main road which may not be a quiet.

My partner and I stayed here on a weekend for one night as we had a wedding in the area.

When I first called the motor inn to book, a child answered the call and starting speaking in language I could not understand, the call was not handed over to an adult/ reception. I called back and was this time greeted by a lady who answered with a simple "hello" no annoucment of the motor inn name. I requested the dates and room type and all the lady asked for was my name. I initated the idea of taking my credit cards details to guarantee the room, I also had to ask about car parking, check in and out times. This is a basic requirement when taking reservations and should be included in their "spiel".

The check-in process was quick and easy. Payment was due upfront. Car parking was at no extra cost. Check out time was between 10-10:30 am.
The room was outdated but clean and secure. Plenty of natural light and we left the heater on whilst we were out for the evening, so when we returned the room was lovely and warm. I went to make myself a cup of tea, but held back when I saw the inside of the kettle black and rusting. It's simple and somewhat cheap to replace a kettle. The bathroom was spotless, but I would have preferred an extra towel. One small towel is not enough for me.

The staff were pleasent when we checked out a little after 10:45am, it was a matter of handing in the key and off we went.

Overall I would definately stay at the Sunbury Motor Inn again, as the location is perfect - close to town. The rooms are very basic, but clean and fresh. I would not hesistate to stay here again.
