“Old Pub charm with a dose of sophistication.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

The traditional pub has expanded to accommodate all kinds of patrons - Beer Garden out the back, Counter type meals in the front bar and a formal dining at the side. Had a wonderful parma and suburb swordfish. Great spot, friendly staff and food at reasonable prices.

“Country Comfort”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

Loads of personality and lots of choices. 3 generations hoiked up onto bar stools as a dining option and had a perfect parma and stunning swordfish. The beer garden was offering a $20 BBQ and there was the formal dining room but as we had just lobbed in the bar overlooking the main street was perfect. Get there early and enjoy as it is a popular spot - book to guarantee a table.
Live music - singer guitarist was at just the right noise level to create atmosphere without having to shout at your fellow diners.
Comfy casual and a culinary delight....super friendly accommodating staff too. Top spot!
PS - Yes the picture isn't 'our' Grand, apparently the accommodation section has the right picture.

Please update this site particularly the picture of the hotel - the picture shown tells me it could possibly be somewhere in Europe(?) Certainly not the Grand Hotel in Yarra Glen

“Great Parma!!”

Old school style hotel with great down to earth pub food. Yummy parma! We would possibly consider staying in the accomodation next time we visit the Yarra Valley

“Very disappointing”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2014 via mobile

Had heard good reports of the hotel but was greatly disappointed with our whole experience. We were there early and were lucky enough to order before the very long queues to order formed. We had a table of 12 and our meals were delivered at various times up to an hour after being ordered. The first mains , 2 meals, were delivered within a reasonable time the others were staggered and one main of barramundi and one of ribs took at least an hour and only after several " reminders" to staff that 2 people had not been served. Everyone else on the table had well and truly finished their meals before the last 2 meals arrived. The beef ribs were very disappointing. They were overcooked and very tough. I could not cut them with the normal knife that was supplied. I had a little more luck after requesting a steak knife.
Be prepared to have smoke from the outdoor BBQ invade you inside if you go on a day when the BBQ is done. The BBQ is situated near a door and is left open...hence the smell and smoke comes inside.
