Its been there for ages but it still offers great wines and food at the restaurant, Friendly service and a reasonable menue range, Decor is dated but that is of little consequence compared to service & meals.
We selected Salt & Pepper Squid & Porkbelly for entrees plus Homemade beef pie & lamb shanks for mains with appropriate wines. The meal was both delicious and filling.
Represented good value for money

Spent Father's day at Fergusson's Winery
Meal consisted 2 courses with main being a beef carvery with baine marie vegies.
I have eaten better at RSLs
Compared to the other wineries in the Yarra Valley the decor is old and tired.
Will never go there again

It is a real disappointment when a restaurant purported to be amongst the best lets down all the real quality restaurants.

Apart from difficulties with booking [two calls, the second to confirm the booking only to be told they didn’t have the original booking] the experience at Fergusson's was the least pleasant we have had in quite a while.

On arrival we sat for some time until we went and asked for menus and discovered that for the regular Sunday carvery spit roast there is one kind of meat only [beef]. And no prices shown for anything. On further questioning we were also brought alternate menus [with prices]. Neither menu bore the slightest resemblance to the sample in the good food guides or on their own web site.

After 20 minutes we were finally offered drinks to order. When they were served the white wine was cool to tepid, but not chilled, and was poor quality. The pinot noir was average.

Although the restaurant was not busy, the tourist buses had left, and with at least 6 floor staff, service was slow to non-existent and invariably provided in the most casual and surly manner. A staff member with “Tell someone who cares” on the back of her shirt bore out the experience. And when serving staff are covered in flour from the kitchen or have personal freshness that is pretty poor, then you can see why we won’t return, nor will we recommend it to anyone.

This restaurant should never be classed as A - top quality. At best it should be a C - for cafeteria.

We had lunch and wine tasting at the Fergusson Winery during our short stay in the Yarra Valley. The vineyards are beautiful and very picturesque. We had the potato and leek pie with salad, wedges and homemade relish, absolutely delicious! The wine was nice too, especially the Crystal Moscato. Staff were lovely. A really nice experience.
