“Architectural Extravaganza”
Reviewed 2 April 2014

This was our first visit to the Gaylord Opryland Resort and was totally amazed at the architecture in this resort. The horticulture was out of this world. Orchids, bromeliads, double impatients of all colors, New Guinea impatients, double bloom begonias of yellow and orange to provide color. Croton shrubs were similar to ones I have seen in Jamaica and the Banyan trees were similar to ones I have seen in Hawaii.

This venue had more than the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and was
all under a climate controlled environment, 68 to 72 degrees on a constant basis.

I was there for a 2 day work trip. Hotel is very pretty and HUGE!! If you are there for a convention, wear comfortable shoes. I went to the Gaylord in Dallas and it is at least double the size. Very nice hotel, very clean. Take your map with you until you get familiar with the hotel.

Restaurants are spread out amongst greenery. The food was very good at the Italian place and American Cafe.

The cost of coffee is ridiculous - $4 for plain coffee. The layout is very well done so everyone is not on top of each other for food, shops, convention.

They had a boat ride in the hotel but I did not experience it or the pool.

The room was comfortable, clean, no issues there. Never saw the cleaning staff but they definitely came in. Staff was friendly.

The hall noise was loud but I expect that it was the party crowd from work convention.

They have an airport shuttle but I think they charge per person. We took a cab from airport for party of 4 and was only charged around $35.

We never left the hotel but saw a mall on the way in. Good place for a convention or other large gathering.

We traveled with another family of 5 and loved staying here! Everything is very pricy. I would say close to double...that part was a little disappointing. However, all six children were safe going out to get ice cream and taking mini adventures together so that did make it worth it! It is beautiful and impeccably maintained! If you are coming to Nashville as a family, I would say it's well worth it for the children. Mine who range from 10-14 are well traveled were in awe of this place.

Stayed at the property in 2013. It is one of the larger indoor properties of this type you will ever see. There are numerous restaurants, shops and bars to keep you busy for days. When our company was there was December and it was VERY COLD & Snowy outside! Never left the "building" (I believe it's 5 + acres under one roof!)

If you ever visit Nashville you'll enjoy this beautiful resort with its lush tropical gardens. Be careful... it's easy to get lost too!

This hotel is gorgeous. It's such an escape and we couldn't have picked a better place. It was our first time in Nashville, and it made the experience that much better. I would highly recommend it to anyone! We loved the rooms, and the glass roofing.

EVERYTHING was amazing, except for one tiny thing..the waterfall. If you have a choice, try not to get a room near it, because it's pretty loud, and you can hear it even with the doors closed. If you are a light sleeper, you'll notice it. It's not a game changer though, this place rocks.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the waterfall. If you have a choice, try not to get a room near it, beca...

You'll spend a lot of time walking around to find anything. Everything is very expensive but it's a lovely hotel. Parking is very costly given what they charge for a night's stay. There isn't a ton around and if you stay at the Opryland don't drive to the mall! Walk if you can. Saturday was rainy so we decided on a movie. One hour later to park in a single file line of cars who all apparently decided on the same thing. (see review for the mall!!!).

There is one indoor pool which seems like miles away depending on where your room is (we were in the Delta wing). It wasn't outdoor pool season so we spent a lot of time at the indoor pool. It would have helped to have a drink pool side! But there is no indoor service which is a real shame. Saw some folks bringing drinks in from restaurants (or maybe their own room) but a small bar or option to order from a menu poolside would have made the experience for us for sure.

Room was clean and quiet. We would come again - hopefully with a coupon!!

This place met the hype with scenic views all over the facility. We housed 8,000 people under this roof and there was room to spare. The facility was nice and well kept, including the live horticulture and all the natural light that was provided through the glass roofing. There are too many positives to right about.

Room Tip: Cascades and Magnolia are quieter sections, however Delta and Garden Conservatory have the best inte...
