“Resort A+, far from Downtown”
Reviewed 6 April 2014

This is a top notch resort with all the amenities within walking distance. There is a mall, restaurants, cinema and the Grand Ole Opry right next door to the resort. Our favorite restaurant was the Mexican place that was located at one of the mall entrances. Try the Corona Rita if you go there, they are excellent!
The only draw back about this side of town is that it is about a 15 to 20 minute drive to Downtown Nashville. So if you wanted to head out to any of the bars downtown it would cost approximately $50ish round trip by taxi. This can get pricey if you plan on going downtown a couple of times. If you drive down there than also be prepared to pay for a taxi. The other negative is how much it costs per day to park at the hotel itself.
My suggestion is if you plan on sight seeing and only want to go downtown once than this is a place to stay, however if you want to go DT a couple of times than I would suggest staying closer to Music Row/ Broadway.

Room Tip: If you want to lay by the pool ask for a room near that end, otherwise you could have a long walk to...

First, what a cool venue. The resort is top notch. The rooms weren't bad either. But.....what a ripoff. We were quoted a price of $219 for our room, already a kings ransom. When we called about breakfast, we were informed there is no complimentary breakfast....we then visited the coffee shop. Two pastries, two coffees, two milk boxes, and one bottle of juice later...$30! Next we went to check out....Now the price was $320! How???? $219 room, $30 taxes, a $20 resort fee, $20 to self park our car, $30 for our so called breakfast. What a rip!!!! A burger with fries and a coke is $15 at this place. A fun place to take the kids, but do your wallet a favor....book a room elsewhere and eat before you go.

Another fun fact, we arrived late so I requested a late checkout...Denied! I'd think after raping me on the room rate these guys could have at least allowed me a late checkout....not a chance! Just one more reason I will never stay here again.

Once is more than enough! Unless you have a reason to be there: meeting, reunion, etc. Just park at the mall and take a walk about. Snap pictures of all the gorgeous gardens and architecture, maybe even grab lunch for the experience then move on to the real Nashville.

Yes, the place is beautiful and fills the senses, but is more of a tourist attraction than an extended experience. The cost of anything in there is extortion! Parking after 20 min is $21.38. A slice of pizza and a bottle of water is $8.75. The airport is cheaper! Don't waste your vacation time and money! There is so much more to see!

Room Tip: Pick any of the more affordable neighboring hotels.

We spent 4 nights at the Gaylord Opryland, and I have to say that about the only thing that we liked about it was its proximity to the Grand Ole Opry. This hotel is enormous. In fact, I would call it a mega-hotel on steroids. It is so large that we had difficulty finding our way around. The hotel's location is outside of Nashville, and we paid $20 per day for self-parking. The "free" wi-fi was of poor quality. Next time we visit Nashville, we'll stay closer to the city center. We dined at two of the Gaylord's restaurant, and the food was pricey and just average if not below.

Room Tip: Remember that whatever room price you are quoted does not always include the mandatory $18 per day r...

This is one of the finest hotels I have stayed at ever. The recovery from the great Nashville flood is incredible. Customer service at this property is top notch. Stay there and you can walk to the Grand Olde Opry. That should not be missed during a stay in Nashville. Only a 15 drive down to Broadway to hear great country music.

Always wanted to visit the resort but have never had a reason until a recent convention was hosted there that I wanted to attend. All I can say is overwhelming! Beautiful & large, lots of shops & eateries. The convention center was large, many rooms for the speakers & the rooms were comfortable & professional. The only advice I would give is take a map to get around, I mostly went to room & then convention so when I went somewhere different I easily got turned around. The fitness facility is well supplied with equipment which includes lots of treadmills. The rooms were spacious enough, had a 2 queen bed room which we shared with another couple. On our own would have been plenty but a little awkward sized with sharing. Rooms were clean & comfortable. The only downfall is its so big & I was so busy with the convention I didn't get to venture around enough, now I want to go back again just to enjoy it!!

Room Tip: Might want to pack your own breakfast, the cheapest we found in the resort was $20/person. There ar...

It's kind of a Disney World for grownups! It was February and snow was falling one morning of my stay, but you're inside this beautiful 'biodome' filled with live plants, a river, and storefronts. I think most or all guest rooms have a balcony, and I enjoyed mine in the morning, drinking a cup of tea and watching the sky brighten as the sun rose.

The Convention Center is a gem. You don't feel like you're cooped up inside all day because of all the natural light.

I was just here for two days and had dinner once in the hotel at Old Hickory. The waiter was kind of snotty but the food was terrific. You'd be crazy to eat there and not order the cauliflower as a sidedish. (I KNOW ... who goes crazy over cauliflower? Take my word for it, you will).
