Hard to believe? Well we travel the world and can differently say the staff and quality if the rooms is too notch. Seth and Sandy have taken care if us in several visits. But the experience start with the bell hops and valet staff. Smiles and let me help you start as soon as you open the door of your vehicle. Front of the house staff are family friendly. No request is left unmet. Rooms are recently refurbished and always crisp and clean. This property is conveniently locate to Vanderbilt university and medical facilities. Centennial and other hospital are close by. Our recent stay we were met by Sandy who made out reservations and has room ready with our request. She then gave us a Christmas card signed by staff with personal greeting on inside cover. She made an offer to buy our dinner at the hotel. Good food and was great surprise after driving for four hours. You can not find a better location in the West End area. Loaded with entertainment and too many restaurants to chose from. Please. Spoil yourself and try out this location. Sam Stevens

I will get right to the point and list likes and dislikes of this hotel.

Likes
1. Free Starbuck drinks during our stay because of the holiday season.
2. $10 per person Bistro breakfast credit because of the holiday season, and my husband having platinum status.
3. Clean, comfortable room.
4. Unique building with fun nook and cranny sitting areas throughout.
5. Shuttle service convenience.
6. Housekeeping touches like towel swans, candies and bottled water.

Dislikes
1. We were left stranded one night by the shuttle service, but they reimbursed us for our cab ride back.

Our first trip to Nashville and we couldn't be happier!!! Location is excellent. A plethora of great restaurants and bars very close. When we arrived (day time) I was a bit skeptical of how much there was close. However, at night this area comes alive!!! Now, on to the hotel itself... We have NEVER stayed anywhere with a more caring and friendly staff!! I was sick the day we arrived and felt progressively worse throughout the day and night. Wife got coffee morning 1 and picked up some DayQuil downstairs for me. Within a hour we received a tray of tea, juice, fruit, etc delivered to room with a "feel better" card signed by the entire staff Unbelievable!!! Granted, comparing the two properties is akin to comparing grapes and cherries, but as far as genuine customer service, wat we experienced here was a step up from the Ritz Carolton!!! The main reason for our trip was to dine at The Catbird Seat. What a fantastic, unbelievable, truly remarkable meal that was!!! Other dining highlights (all very close) - Hattie B's hot chicken, Slider House, Cori's Dogs, Farmers Market. Too many great drinking spots to capture all here!!! To sum it up, when we travel we typically stay at Hyatt, Westin, Hilton, etc and were blown away with what Coutyard has to offer at far more reasonable pricing. The staff at Courtyard Vandebuilt made us feel likewise had paid 5x the price we really paid!!! Nashville is one of the best cities we have ever visited.

The remodel was a nice suprprised. The hotel lobby and rooms are all new and look very clean and modern. Upon checkin we were given a scratcher to win some prizes and got free valet parking ($22 a day!). Very cool.

Rooms were small, but comfortable. Well equipped and internet was fast and free. Couldnt ask for much more for $76/night :-)

This hotel has been recently remodeled and looks great. The location on West End Ave is within walking distance to several good restaurants and a short ride from downtown. Parking garage attached to hotel but cramped with a steep entrance so be careful. We waited for the hotel shuttle to go downtown one night after being assured it was on the way only to discover it was down for a minor repair. We eventually took a cab but would have appreciated being told the shuttle was not coming for a while instead of waiting - honesty is the best policy.

Room Tip: This is a downtown hotel, did not appear as if any room location would be better than another.

This hotel was recently heavily renovated. The lobby structure has changed and the rooms are all freshly painted with new carpets, furniture and fixtures. So, needless to say the rooms are very clean. The structure of the rooms have not changed. They are good sized and the bathrooms are quite modest in size. Generally the rooms are equipped as you would expect a mid-priced hotel to be.

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times in the past, but had a new experience this trip. The hotel has two parts, one entered by the elevator in the lobby and the other in a second building which sits over the parking garage. I was on the 5th floor of the second building which meant I was on the floor immediately above the parking garage on a very cold night (20's). The floor, especially the tiled bathroom floor, of the room I was in was VERY cold. I would encourage you not to take the 5th floor of the second building in cold weather.

The staff at this hotel has always been friendly. There is a fee to park and more of a fee if you want to valet park.

Room Tip: On a cold night, do not stay on the 5th floor of the second building.

This hotel is very nice. The decor in the rooms and lobbies is fresh and well taken care of. My one major complaint about this hotel is that the ramp out of the parking garage is too steep. My minivan bottoms out every time I exit the garage, scraping my bumper. They offer valet parking, so many people may not even know that the bottom of their vehicle is getting damaged! Hopefully the potential repair costs aren't more than the amount I paid to use the garage.

DOSJohnston, Director of Sales at Courtyard Nashville Vanderbilt/West End, responded to this reviewResponded 13 December 2013

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. First of all, thank you for your compliments of the hotel and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. Secondly, I want to apologize for the garage experience. Unfortunately we are unable to amend the way our ramp ties in to the city street, but our valet service has perfected their ability to take our lower-riding guest vehicles at the appropriate angle to avoid any undercarriage damage. Should you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our General Manager, Jeff Charo at jeff.charo@interstatehotels.com. We hope to see you in the future - and we will find alternative parking arrangements for your minivan. I will be happy to personally assist you in making your future reservations - melanie.johnston@interstatehotels.com.
