“The storytelling is worth the visit.....”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

Sure, there maybe grander plantations, but what set this visit apart was the tour guide and the stories. You left with a real sense of how the elite lived, prospered, gained/lost fortunes, dined, celebrated and yes...died.

An added bonus for the holidays was the inclusion of the Christmas decorations per room based on the time period. Very interesting in the holidays evolution.

Back to the tour guide, fully dressed in a time period costume with a zest for telling tales, she was a highlight. The plantation was guarded during the war and was not plundered or damaged like many in the south but there were a few bullet holes in the columns.

A bonus was the wine tasting and the wine gift shop at the end. Very well appointed with unique gifts and wine paraphernalia, the Blackberry wine was the best.

“Wonderful history and a great tour!”
Reviewed 15 November 2013

This was a well spent few hours. Great history and wonderful things to learn about how those lived hundreds of years ago. I do not recommend this for small children or anyone that can't stand for a period of time.
Take a ride through the neighborhood on the right as you are headed back toward Nashville. The homes are just beautiful!

“Great place to get a feel for history and plus the only winery in Nashville!”
Reviewed 15 November 2013

We really enjoy the history, all the artifacts to the original owners to the third owners of the home! Learn so much about how they did things and why, plus the décor for history in generations. There is even bullet marks on the columns to show the battles where in the front lawn of this beautiful mansion!

“Love the south and it's historical touch!”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

Been to Nashville 3 times now and this was the first time I visited this plantation. It was a real delightful experience. We learned about it's historical element, prominence, and the lineage to winning horses in the Kentucky derby. The tour was quick and you can walk the grounds. The mansion looks pretty tiny as the surrounding open space is so vast. The only winery in the state of TN. Good place to be. All good things most come to an end, similar to the legacy of the Belle Meade (Beautiful Meadow) family.
