This was the 9th hotel on our 2-week, 17-state and 2-province trip. It blew everyone else away. By far.
The doorman (Frederick) showed us around the very beautiful downstairs, made recommendations for dinner and passed us on to very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Everyone was quite genuine and friendly. Cookies and sparkling juice in the lobby. Then we got upstairs.
The room was incredible. Very spacious, very comfortable bed. The bathroom was huge, two sinks, glassed-in stall shower that was amazing, deep bathtub, great products. Bathrobes were a step above typical. Not much of a view, but we didn't want to look away from the room.
Turndown service included two bottles of water, a bag of ice, cookies and slippers. The minibar was not outrageously priced (though the bar downstairs was a bit high -- but great atmosphere). There were several great magazines, a classical CD... all sorts of little touches.
We did room service, which comes from the high-caliber restaurant. Crab cakes were the best ever. The rest was real good (not amazing), not as great as the crab cakes, though.
We had a breakfast package, which meant a $45 credit on room service, and it could be used for dinner (as we did, though it had to be done at checkout). A Sunday NY Times was also complimentary (that's usually $5 in these parts), and was hung on the door in a cloth bag.
We've stayed at other very popular places in Nashville that cost even more but didn't deliver near the caliber of room and service. We've been at the Sheraton that ranks #2 in Nashville, and this makes that Sheraton look like Motel 6. It also was less expensive than when we've been at the Opryland hotel, and far better.
As we left, my wife commented that the only thing they didn't do was wash and wax the car. It wouldn't surprise me if they did, next time we're there.
