“Not Downtown - Need More Breakfast Help”
Reviewed 21 November 2010

Basically what you'd expect of a Holiday Inn Express. The property was clean and the staff were generally friendly and helpful (especially the front desk staff) though we encountered two who seemed lacking in wanting to work. We stayed two nights and our housekeeping service consisted of the housekeeper, seeing us walking toward our suite, asked if there was anything we needed. We said towels, which she gave us, and then discovered she felt her work was complete as she never returned to empty trash or make beds.

Both days staff were unable to keep up with the work load to keep the breakfast buffet replinished. Lots of waiting for basic things like eggs, bagels etc... It was as if they were suprised to see so many hungry people coming down for breakfast. The hotel seemed pretty full (just before the CMA awards) but they should plan for staff and food based on reservations, right? While most staff seemed to be working hard, there was again the one employee who stood around chatting about work being hard to find - loved the irony.

Be advised that while some HIEs have a hot tub - this one does not.

Maybe I'm the only one who'd make the mistake, but not being familiar with Nashville (or too much with country music) I thought the hotel would be near the original Opryland where we had booked a show - but it's not. It's a 20 minute/$15 parking ride away. BTW, I learned the hard way that downtown after dark (e.g. - after the Opryland show) is not appropriate for children. It put me in mind of New Orleans withoutt he beads and toplessless but with plenty of live music and drunk rebel rousers swearing loudly as they staggered up the street. Aside from the drive, the hotel is in a seemingly safer and more appropriate area for families than downtown.

This hotel is wonderful! It is new, fresh, and clean with a great staff. The breakfast was perfect. I didn't get down to breakfast until it was about to close and thought for sure that there would be no food left. Boy was I wrong, the food was great and there was plenty of it!!! hot eggs and bacon, cinnamon rolls and coffee....yum! The rooms are great, perfectly decorated, clean with no bad odor.. comfortable. The only down side were the pillows that weren't so great... kind of lumpy and although they were supposed to be "soft" or "firm" like their pillowcases stated, there really was no difference in quality. At other Holiday Inn Expresses, I've had wonderful down pillows so this was the only disapointment to report. Overall, however, I highly recommend this Holiday Inn. It is right across the street from the Opryland hotel which is beautiful.

Stayed at this hotel while family was visiting the area......the hotel was exceptional in all areas. Very clean, great location and WONDERFUL staff!!!! The indoor pool was a bonus for this time of year - heated ans saltwater what a nice touch. No extra fees for parking or any of the services. Breakfast was HOT and very good. The breakfast host made sure we did not want for anything. GREAT coffee bar and homemade cookies in the afternoon....my son LOVED the cookies! I could not imagine staying anywhere else or putting my family anywhere other that this hotel. Cannot wait to come back here and enjoy the Chrsitmas Shows and Holidays next month, since they are right across the street from Gaylord Opryland and offer a free shuttle....you cannot go wrong by staying here and save a ton of money while having a GREAT time!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND for anyone traveling to Nashville for any reason.

This hotel was wonderful. Plenty of parking even if you arrive back late. Room was spacious, beds were comfortable, staff was very friendly & helpful. Pool was clean, breakfast was hot and plentiful; they never ran out even with a crowd of guests. Lobby was beautiful, business area was easily accessible. Free Wi-Fi in the room was a cost saver. Hotel provided coupons to local restaurants and attractions which saved us nearly $100 over the weekend we were there. My husband and I travel to Nashville 3 or 4 times a year and this hotel will be the only one I stay at in the future. I just wish we had found it sooner.

I have stayed here a total of 3 times in the past year. I always have a great stay.

Last stay was to go to a concert (Bieber) downtown. The hotel was 14 miles from downtown Nashville & cost $126 for a double queen room. As usual, our stay was great. The customer is outstanding too. My friend forgot her Blackberry. She called them, they went up 2 hours later & retrieved it, returned our call, and mailed it to my friend. We will continue to stay for price, cleanliness, location, Honesty, helpfullness, & reliability!!

This hotel was closed month of May 2010 after the flood and whole bottom floor is new. Very close to Opryland and would stay again based on this convenience. Clean, nice breakfast, several choices of restaurants nearby. Not super busy because Opry was still closed in August. Negative - fan in room was so loud and could not be adjusted (but this helped to drown out the sound of the band outside on Thursday night at nearby bar). Also, we had put our DND sign on door and it disappeared and our room was cleaned...not thrilled because I had left my laptop, etc in room. Overall, would stay again in a heartbeat.

When we pulled out the sofa bed we were dismayed to see that the mattress didn't even look like a mattress. It was actually springs covered with a very think cloth.
My son decided sleeping on the floor was more comfortable than the sofa bed. I would advise you to bring an air mattress!
However, our two-room suite was big and the personnel very friendly.
