This park is so great with it's paved pathways, nature center, ponds. If you bicycle you'll love this place. The view from the pedestrian bridge over the Cumberland is awesome and great for sunsets or watching barges pass underneath. Wildlife is everywhere if you look closely. Deer, rabbits, many species of birds.

Enjoy this path. Most of it is cool and in the shade and 12 miles from downtown to the lake. Its great for the whole family and not to many hills.

Shelby bottoms was a nice way to spend a morning. We saw deer, ducks, and a variety of birds. My son loved the nature center, where he got to make a pine cone and peanut butter bird feeder. Sneakers are fine, it's not hiking. Many paths are paved, some are not. The unpaved paths were a bit muddy, but it had rained the day before.

The Shelby Bottoms Greenway is the best place for a nice long walk in East Nashville, if you are looking for long uninterrupted paths in a lovely natural setting. The paths are well-maintained and there aren't any hills for those who would prefer an experience that doesn't require a lot of huffing up and down big hills. It's perfect for an easy stroll, as well as decent hikes, as it is a very large park.
