If you are looking for a hotel with a great location, great service, cleanliness and friendly staff, look no further. While I often stay at Marriatt properties during my business travels, this hotel was on par with some of the best that I have every had the pleasure of staying. Everything is withing walking distance and the staff was very helpful. This is a must stay if you are in the area.

Great place to stay if you desire proximity to Vanderbilt. You're right on top of the stadium and a short walk to Sarratt Student Center. It is a minute's walk to several above average chain restaurants (PF Chang's, J Alexanders), a Starbucks and a Borders. A slightly longer walk gets you to the Parthenon, Elliston Place, and smaller, boutique restaurants.

The rooms are spacious and well-kept. The staff is friendly and attentive. The hotel restaurant serves a decent buffet breakfast. They offer a complimentary shuttle to anywhere within 2 miles of the hotel - that will pretty much get you anywhere you'd need to go. You can call the shuttle driver to pick you up and bring you back to the hotel.

RESTAURANT TIP: Restaurant Zola is a short walk up the road (away from the campus). It is tucked behind WhichWich and is one of the best places to dine that you will ever find. The food is eclectic; it is not a place that families with kids would enjoy. It is for adults looking for a fabulous meal in a quiet, peaceful setting. As someone who has traveled alot to some great places, I can hardly believe that one of the best restaurants I've ever gone to is in Nashville, a stone's throw from Vandy. Zola is simply one of the best!

We stayed at this hotel when we attended Parents' Weekend at Belmont University. It was a beautiful hotel in a great location. The Vanderbilt football stadium is literally steps from the side doors. Happily, there was no game when we were there and all was quiet! If you want to avoid crowds in the fall, I would suggest checking the Vandy football schedule before booking.

Having just had a stellar stay at a Marriott (the resort in Vail, CO) I was underwhelmed by this plain-wrap version. Yes, the beds are comfortable. But there, the resemblance ends. Just another tired chain hotel with the typical amenities. One exception is the fitness facility which is definitely above-average -- it's large, clean and has adequate equipment, including free weights, ellipticals and treadmills.

If you self-park, it's $18 a day. A bonus, though, is the free shuttle to and from downtown which runs until 11 p.m. If you're in Nashville to party (and many go there to do just that) the shuttle alone is probably worth the stay.

For us, this Marriott was disappointing, especially after a wonderful stay at an equally-priced hotel in Chattanooga which was fantastic in every way. Oh well -- can't win 'em all.

Front desk staff is very helpful and always greets you with a smile when you return. Valet is quick. The food inside is just ok but many places to eat nearby. PF Changs is right out the door. I would tell anyone to stay here and I will again.

This is the best option closest to Vanderbilt unless you want to pay a lost more bucks to stay at the Loews. I only wish it had been on the other side of the University closer to the Hillsboro Village. Its a far far walk from the hotel to the village. Take a cab.
