This was our second visit to the Wednrsday show. The first time, in 2011 , we had a front row, center seat to first rate musicians (Tiller's Folly and Sarah Jarosz continue to be our favorites...check them out!!). That night will be one of our favorite music memories of all time.
This past week, we enjoyed great musicians' talents, however, even though we were there at the 6:00 opening, we sat in the second row to the left of the stage (on the right would be the same) which resulted in a poor choice. The first four rows were all reserved seats. We were right behind the camera man and a big post,. There were also two other photographers that interferred (often!) by standing in front of us (we were not sure if they were affiliated with the show, nevertheless, it was very rude and unprofessional). Our party of four finally moved to the back and stood, much to our dismay, a lady in front of us chatted the entire time. We came to listen to great music, which this venue does not disappoint, however, the behavior of others' (lack of) social skills can intefere with what could have been another positive experience.
A highlight of the night was our dinner at the Loveless Cafe before the show.

We bought the tickets online prior to visiting Nashville while still unsure if we wanted to go. We aren't (weren't) big Bluegrass fans but we figured it would be a real Tennessee experience. Wow. We were blown away. The show was amazing, the music was incredible, and the drinks were a whole lot of fun! We had a blast and haven't stopped listening to Bluegrass since we left. HIGHLY recommend.

The Music City Roots radio show is a true treasure. There were five acts and each act got better and better. It's apparent that the performers LOVE their music and performing. The two hour show was so entertaining and fun and only ten dollars per person. Word to the wise - get there early if you want a chair. The Loveless Café is a great spot to eat dinner before the show - outstanding southern cooking.

It doesn't matter who is program you are always in for a treat at Music City Roots. I had the pleasure of being their in the fist six months of them opening and having gone back five years later, it's nice to see that tickets are still only $10 and he shows are of the utmost caliber. This is"The Opry" for people who want a little more eclectic mix, who don't mind adventure and are willing to take musical risks. The great thing is, you can make friends from complete strangers as everyone is so kind and willing to chat. Also, due to their VIP area, there are many people from the industry who go there to hang out. It is a super eclectic mix of everyone! Pop in early and eat at the Loveless Cafe and your night is complete. Once caveat - this place is NOT central to downtown or near any of the other music sites. The Loveless is a destination, south of town, so make your plans accordingly, But WELL worth you time and effort to get there!
