“Average food, average service, creative decor.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 March 2009

I went to Ombi on a Friday night in January when I was visiting some friends of mine who live in Nashville. It was interesting to discover that the place was not very busy at all; I enjoy eating at a restaurant that's quiet, so I liked the lack of other diners but it was a bit surprising for a Friday evening.

The Food: The food was good, certainly a respectable and tasty meal, but ultimately forgettable. I remember enjoying what I ordered (one of the specials) but that's all I remember about it!

The Service: The service was fine; there was nothing outstanding, and nothing to complain about.

The Value: Ultimately the meal seemed a tad overpriced for what we got.

The Atmosphere: By far the coolest part of this dining experience was the interesting (and very modern) decor in the restaurant. The bathroom sink was really interesting in particular.

“Lovely food, great ambience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2008

We went to Ombi on a Sunday night. It wasn’t our first choice but a lot of places are closed on Sundays so we gave it a try & we weren’t disappointed. Our starters were French onion soup, terrine, mussels and grilled halloumi – all wonderful and beautifully presented. For main courses we had the vegetable platter (delicious but not very filling), duck and 2 of us opted for the foie gras burger which was nice, but not as nice as the one we ate in New York and the duck was slightly overdone which is why I didn't rate this excellent though it was pretty close to that. Then we finished with crème brulee, cheesecake & ice cream. All very nice. The waiter was really helpful when it came to choosing our wine as we each fancied something different and 1 of our party had a cocktail which he rated a 5 out of 5. The atmosphere was lovely and & the service was great. We wanted somewhere where we could take our time & enjoy great food & wine in relaxed surroundings & this place was perfect. I’ll definitely be back if I’m in Nashville again.

“God help you if you want...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 November 2007

God help you if you want a drink. Not only is the service bad, the cocktails are high-priced. Have a drink at any other bar on the street, then go to Ombi and have the exact same drink for twice as much. Atmosphere is decent.

“Great first meal at Ombi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2007

We had dinner at Ombi for the first time in July 2007. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very laid back and cool. The service was excellent, and the staff was attentive without being imposing. Chef Kim Totzke made her way through the dining room at one point to check on all the tables. Between the two of us we had the pork porterhouse with buttermilk cheddar grits, greens, and sauteed peaches, and the steak special with snap peas and twice baked potatoes in truffle oil and herbs. Both meals were great – well cooked, well-flavored, and well presented. We were overall very pleased, and will definitely go back to Ombi in the future.
