Whenever my husband and I are on vacation, we prefer to stay at Hampton Inn because we know it will be clean and comfortable. The hotel on the river did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly. The location was an added bonus for this Hampton Inn. Within walking distance to mini-golf, restaurants, the Christmas Place, etc.

After spending sometime on the phone the week before with Andrew at the front desk, and him telling me they were the best hotel in town. I packed my husband and 3 kids for a two day drive. Kids could not wait to hit the pool and visit Dollywood. After ariving at the hotel, I asked if this was a Riverview room, they said no, they did not have anymore and they had not put me in a parking view room. After getting to the room, they are not an average size Hampton Inn room. Very small, no fridge or Microwave. Took the kids down to swim, was told that both pools were heated, one inside was not..very cold.. Not enough places to sit during breakfast either..when at Dollywood talked to other guests and found another hotel to stay at next time.

We have stayed at this hotel for 3yrs at 2 times a year. But in sept 2007 we took our grandaugher for her 13 birthday, and we have always ask for ground floor because she has a history of s ezu res..But when we arived we were told all we could have take a upper floor, because the motion of the elevator botherd her we had to use the staires every tine we left uor room. We had reserved this room weeks in advance. If we had been told this then we would have made other arangments..So this march we tstayed at the INNat Christmas Place LOVED IT. Ithought people with disablites were to be helped .

We stayed in this hotel because we really wanted to have a nice vacation. We have stayed in a lot of Hampton's but we were a little disappointed. The rooms are very small. We had 2 queens and we were very crowded. The room got on my nerves. We had reserved 2 nights at this hotel. The first room had a really bad mildew smell. I asked to be moved. They moved us to another room that was in the same spot on a different floor. We didn't smell the mildew right away, but after we left and then returned the smell was terrible. We had already unpacked and it was late so we stayed the night but I hated it. The next morning we were moved to another room in another building. It didn't smell like mildew but i just could not enjoy the hotel. It was very crowded. Breakfast was good, but we had to fight for a table and then we felt guilty for relaxing and eating because other people wanted to sit down. They ran out of things at breakfast. We moved to the Hampton in Gatlinburg and it was wonderful!

We just came back from staying at the Hampton on the River. It was a relaxing and fun weekend. The hotel is clean and smells fresh. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Couldn't ask for better. I love the sleep cloud beds and I do not normally sleep when I am away from home but I always stay at Hampton's and always get a good nights sleep.

Situated within walking distance of several nice restaurants and shops. Very clean hotel and staff was attentive. Indoor and outdoor pool and indoor hot tub was a plus. Hotel was always busy, so parking spots were sometimes hard to come by. My husband is handicapped, and the handicapped spots were always full. No complaints about the free breakfast, but it was hard to find an empty table. Free wireless in room was really nice to have! We will book the same hotel on our next trip there.

For meals, try Calhoun's (try a side dish of spinach maria..) , or Bullfish Grill-you can walk to both. If you are a pizza lover, walk over to Smoky Mountain Brewery on Tuesdays. That is half-price pizza night (except for the personal size). Best pizza I have ever had! Don't forget to try Applewood Restaurant. Too far to walk to it, but it is only a short drive. There is also a Starbucks right across the street from the hotel.

Did not make it to any shows or comedy clubs this time around. Maybe next time. There is lots to do in Pigeon Forge, but the only drawback is that the traffic is almost always bumper to bumper.

We decided to spend a long weekend traveling through Tennessee and wanted to visit Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, an area we had not been to in many years. We chose this Hampton Inn based on the fact other reviewers had commented that it was slightly off the main road and therefore a little quieter.
The hotel seemed newer with an attractive lobby. Check-in went very quickly and our room was ready when we arrived. The hotel was on the main thoroughfare but sat back from the road enough that it probably did help cut down on traffic noise.
The room was clean with basic decor, but also included a microwave and refrigerator which was a nice touch. The free wireless internet was also an added convenience. The bed was very comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. The only downside to the room was if we sat at the desk to do any work, the blower from the air conditioner was right in our face and there was no way to adjust but to turn up the air until it clicked off.
Breakfast looked great and was more than simple continental fare as it included a hot dish. Also, fruit, cookies and drinks were available throughout the day for guests.
The main problem during our stay was not with the hotel but with our disappointment at how commercial the area had become. We arrived early on Saturday and sat in bumper to bumper traffic forever just trying to get to the hotel which is on the leading edge of Pigeon Forge. The traffic stayed horrible throughout the entire evening and it took a tremendous amount of time and patience to try to get anywhere. The roads are now one tourist attraction after another instead of the unique shops we remember. The staff at the hotel was very helpful in giving us directions and hints as to how the locals avoid some of the traffic chaos. We checked out early the next morning after deciding this area was best to explore in the off-season.
