“Lovely home with sounds of babbling brook”

This is a great clean older home with a wonderful stream very close to the house- you could leave the windows open and hear the peaceful rushing water. A picnic table and fire pit by the stream. This house is very difficult to find- go to the store Barnett's Jack Grocery- the only one in Roan mtn. They are super nice and drove to tell the owners we were at the store and then drove us to the cabin in a heavy downpour. A true Good Samaritan.
The cabin is close to Roan mtn. And about 45 min from Johnson City. I would rent it again.

Loved staying here for my birthday gettaway with my boyfriend Michael. It was quiet and secluded, with woods between you and the neighbors. Our favorite spot was sitting on the back deck and listening to the brook next to the house, and of course feeding the trout! Watch out though, the neighbors dogs love the fish food and will steal it if your not watching it! They were sly enough to do it to us haha. There are a few movies and a VCR/DVD player there, no phone or cable, but no complaints here since we were not there for tv but for the adventures. Sandra stopped by one morning real quick to meet us. She is a very sweet lady who loves to get to know people and even let us stay an extra night at the last minute. It was a little tricky to find, but with tips from Sandra we found it relatively quickly. If your going to Roan, no matter the season it is busy!!!! Parking lots fill up before morning light most of the time. Still a must see though!

Nice people they are. The people of Tennessee are also really nice too. Make sure you bring your own DVD's. You will have no local TV access. If you need access to medical or emergency needs get another place. 5 miles to route 143 & 19E is where you get wifi or cell phone service.

“An enchanting cabin with EVERTHING you need...BEAUTIFUL!”

This place is amazing...fully stocked with everything you could ever want or need, and the location is magical. Yes, there is no cell, tv or internet, but there is no need for any of that when you really take advantage of the beautiful surroundings,(if needed you can use the phone at the neighbors up the hill). Loved feeding the fish in the babbling brook right outside the cabin, sitting in the rockers on the front porch, and grilling on the gas grill on the back porch. It rained one of the evenings that we where there, so we gathered around the kitchen table an did a puzzle, that was also furnished, as well as numerous DVD and VHS movies to watch. Taking pictures of all the natural beauty was my personal favorite. Peaceful, relaxing, and oh yes the cabin was as clean as a whistle. Sandra met us upon arrival and welcomed us, what a great example of Southern hospitality. Overall we had a GREAT time, and hopefully will be able to revisit this lovely cottage.

The cottage is nice and clean. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a meal except the food. Both bedrooms are good size. Nice to have a washer and dryer if needed. The front porch has 4 rockers which allow you to sit out and enjoy nature and listen to the creek that runs along side the cottage. The area is absolutely beautiful! Mountains all around. Getting away from the hustle and bustle of every day life was nice. There is no cell reception, internet or tv reception so get ready to enjoy the beauty and sounds of nature.

A simple, sweet 2 bedroom home with ample kitchen for making those home cooked meals that are so needed after a day on the Appalachian Trail. Just a few minutes drive from Carver's Gap on the AT, which we headed to for hiking, up to Roan High Knob and the Rhondodendron Gardens going south and all the amazing wondrous high balds going north on the trail. A bubbling creek flows alongside the house and an open window will allow sleepers to hear that creek music all night. I was surprised at how having no WIFI nor internet allowed us to focus on hiking and being outdoors more than we would have. The owners are very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Super great place to get away.

“Best little cottage in Roan Mountain”

Absolutely beautiful setting as pictured and loved the wrap around porch & listening to the sounds of the creek while sitting in rocking chairs. You will NOT be disappointed. It is definitely a challenge to find as it is off the road & back into the woods but you can ask anybody around there & they can all tell you where it is. I loved falling asleep at night to the sounds of the creek & surrounding woodlands. The beds were very comfortable & the cottage was so clean & well stocked for our every need. We loved cooking in the kitchen & sitting down to eat with beautiful views from the kitchen windows. Owners were great & checked in with us to see if we needed anything. You are right at the entrance to Roan Mountain state park. Small grocery store with gas on the highway - it has about anything you need.
