We stayed here for a week the end of June/beginning of July this summer. It was our first time staying here and it won't be the last. We absolutely loved it! The location is great. You're close to the parkway, but tucked far enough away to be quiet. The staff? Fantastic! The people at the office couldn't have been friendlier. We stayed in The Orchards in "Calming Times". We couldn't get over how quiet it was there and loved having a garage for our van. Our 4 year old loved going down to the Little Pigeon River and catching crayfish with his Dad (which we didn't keep). It was a great experience for him. We couldn't beat the price either.

Can't wait to return there in 2012!

Since our first stay at the Appleview River Resort in Sept. of 2010 we have become very spoiled and haven't been able to make ourselves stay anywhere else but here. You cannot beat the value for the accommodations you get.

On this stay we chose unit C637 as it was a 2 bedroom unit and we brought my mother with us this time. The unit was incredibly clean and very well kept. As will all the units located in "River Place" it had a nice balcony overlooking the Little Pigeon River that included table, chairs, as well as a gas grill. Both the master and the second bedroom are a great size. This unit includes 2 bathrooms as well. The master includes a jacuzzi tub and the second is just a standard tub/shower combo. The living/dining room areas have laminate flooring that looks great. Very large LCD TV in the living room as well as a stereo to listen to music while you're on the balcony.

As I mentioned in the title of my review, this place is a "Hidden Gem" so in all the times I have stayed here we've never really seen a ton of people there. There is always plenty of parking and check in is always super quick and easy. They even call you on the day of your check in to make sure your trip there is going ok and to see if you will be able to make it before 5PM. If not they provide access to your keys in a lock box outside.

The staff at Appleview is incredible. Doug always goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need for an enjoyable vacation and always makes you feel like you're coming home to family. The staff is one of the other main reasons we come back to Appleview time and time again.

As far as location, it cannot be beat. You are directly behind the Apple Barn restaurant so great food is only moments away. You are also on the side of Pigeon Forge where all of the shows are so it has great easy access to those. There are also several back roads that you can take to get to Dollywood so you don't have to fight traffic on the parkway if it is heavy.

I can't say enough about how pleased I am with Appleview and recommend it highly to all my friends and family.

Stayed in a very nicely decorated and immaculate 2 bedroom condo on the 1st floor. Great view of the river from the balcony. Away from the strip but close enough to be convenient. Not very crowded...perhaps the secret isnt out!

My wife and I stayed in unit C641 which is in the Riverplace condos located on the Little Pigeon River. This unit was a 1 bedroom/1 bath with a balcony located over the river.

First, the great value. With the price on the condo you can't go wrong. If you stay 3 nights you get the 4th night free so for us it averaged out with taxes and all to about $110/night which is incredible. Also, if you stay 5 nights you get the 6th and 7th night for free.

We arrived at about 2:30PM on a Wednesday and there was no one in line waiting to check in. One guy at the front desk to check us in. He was very friendly and check in took about 5 minutes.

The place is pretty much vacant. I don't think it is very well advertised and not a lot of people know it is there. It is not just vacation rentals though; there are people that live here. Our unit was on the very end of the first phase of condo's they had built. Plenty of parking.

The unit was on the second floor. The steps were a little steep but not too bad. Very spacious unit for a 1 bedroom. It had a separate dining room, kitchen, and living room. All of the furnishings were very nice and up to date including a large 52" LCD TV in the living room. The bedroom had a king size bed (which unfortunately wasn't very comfortable) as well as a small LCD TV. The TV could've definitely been bigger in the bedroom because you could hardly see it. The bedroom then opened up to the balcony which was on the Little Pigeon river so the view was great. The balcony also included a small gas grill and patio table with 4 chairs.

The only real quirks about the room were that almost all the light switches were outside of the room you were going in to which took some getting used to. The A/C unit was extremely loud in the living room and the bedroom was always several degrees warmer than the rest of the condo.

The location is absolutely amazing! Right behind the Apple Barn so you are extremely close for breakfast, lunch, or dinner there. It is on the outskirts of Pigeon Forge right at the Sevierville line basically. You are right near all the main shows such as The Miracle or Black Bear Jamboree.

The weekend that we visited is the HUGE annual car show they have in Pigeon Forge every year so traffic was literally at a stand still 24/7 Friday night and Saturday headed back in to Pigeon Forge. Luckily, Apple Valley Road which you are right off of has several back roads that lead around to Wears Valley Road which can get you straight to DollyWood or the other direction to Cades Cove so while everyone else was sitting in traffic we were getting where we needed to go. The location alone is worth staying here for.

As far as check-out goes, not really sure. The office is only staffed Mon-Fri. The paperwork said there would be a book in the room telling us what we needed to do before we left but there wasn't.

All in all, a GREAT value.

I swore to myself after our trip I would write a review because I find them so useful. My husband and our three children went to the smokies to hike. We were not very concerned with a resort except we did want quiet and a place for our twelve year old to fish. The location is very nice. We never saw the staff our entire five nights. There is no fishing or canoeing as advertised. We stayed in the condominiums facing the river. The accomodations are nice BUT the walls are paper thin. My son who slept on the couch was awakened every night by a neighbor screaming at her small child and then the child crying himself to sleep. VERY DISTURBING. The only other thing I found wrong was that the master bath is impossible to get in and out of. I don't know who designed this but unless you are young you will definitely hurt yourself getting out of this tub. The other units that are not condominiums may be better built and the price was very good since we were in the mountains most of the time. I think next time I would try the Holiday Inn Express we saw down the street.

We just returned from a four night stay with Appleview River Resort. We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo. They are located just behind the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant so it is very convenient to everything we did, but it was far enough away from the parkway to be quiet. I had read some so-so reviews and was worried, but for the price decided to try it anyway. I am so glad that I did. They are under new management and the owners were very nice and helpful. The condo was very clean and looked much like the pictures on the website. Our balcony overlooked the river and had a mountain view as well. We had access to a pool, exercise room, game room and hot tub. I would reccommend Appleview Resort to anyone looking for a nice, clean, convenient and well priced place to stay on their vacation and I will definitely be using them again.

We stayed in one of the four bedroom units. We called to see if unit was ready before arriving and were told it was. After carrying all of our bags up on the elevator (no luggage carts) and settling in, we started checking things out. There was a sock behind one bed, toys behind the dresser, the kitchen floor still had crumbs under the cabinets, a half eaten roll and dorito was under one chair in the living room, yellow bb's and candywrapers everywhere, a q-tip in the master bathroom...just to list a few things. We did some vaccumming ourselves, as there is no daily maid service. We did not call the office to report, but should have.

Building 5 is under construction and equipment can be heard early!
