Recently I had to stop in Tazewell TN for the night. This is a small truck stop town that is a gateway to the historic Cumberland Gap. Based on a few glowing reviews from Tripadvisor members, I chose this motel.
When I got there, I almost didn't go in. This is not a Comfort Inn or La Quinta, it is an old style, roadside motel and looks a little bleak from the road. Inside I found a friendly proprietor who upgraded me to a suite (slow season I guess). The room smelled nice, the bed was firm and comfy and despite being older and well used, everything is well maintained and spotless.
The bathroom is typical old school small motel but the big, wall mounted flat screen with true HD and HBO was a welcome surprise. Not the greatest noise proofing and no breakfast but the price was right. I would stay here again for the night. Families are welcome and will find the accommodations suitable for children. I noticed motorcyclists and truck drivers stayed here too.
