We held a family reunion here 3 years ago and after checking many other locations, we are choosing to return here. We enjoy that we can all (Over 40 of us) can be together in one building and have a large kitchen and dining area to use as well as two big meeting rooms. The pool is great too. we are looking forward to returning next summer.

We stayed in Blue Spruce for three nights. This Retreat Center is about half way up a mountain and very quiet and peaceful. Our cabin was very nice...nothing really fancy...but, perfect for what we wanted. It was fairly close to town, but yet away from everything too. The caverns and a riding stable are just down the road from the retreat. We would come again and stay here.

Room Tip: There are several cabins to choose from....this would be a great place to go for a family reunion...

If you are looking for quiet and restful lodging with an awesome view of the Smoky Mountains then Tuckaleechee Retreat Center is your place. The retreat center can house large groups down to couples with their 3 lodges and 3 family cabins. The swimming pool and hot tubs are wonderful attractions too. The staff is most helpful and friendly. "Come on in and stay awhile." The only hardship is having to leave.

I went on a ladies' retreat here this past weekend. We stayed in the Bear Lodge Cabin, which is up near the very top of a mountain. The cabin was very comfortably furnished; kitchen was well-stocks with everything we needed except the food! Our group was 10 ladies. We had plenty of space to spare and could have easily had a dozen more before it would start to feel crowded. (It actually sleeps 30). The view simply took my breath away and it was really nice to sit in the hot tub and look out over the valley.

Room Tip: The only reason I give this a 4 on location is the drive up to it. It didn't bother me, but some...

Thank you for your review of Bear Lodge. That is a big help to us. Yes, we are on the side of a mountain, and there are some who don't like that. That's the risk you take when you come to the Smoky's! Hope to see you again sometime.

My wife and I stayed at the Blue Spruce cabin during our Christmas break vacation. It's a three bedroom cabin (bedroom with queen bed and whirlpool tub, full bathroom, and living area/kitchen). It's spacious for two people and was attractively decorated for Christmas. Kitchen was fully furnished and the gas log fire place was cozy even if it didn't produce a lot of heat. The cabin also has an exterior hot tub on the front balcony which we didn't use because of the cool December temperatures.
The fact that the bedroom is separate from the living room/kitchen area is nice because noises like the refrigerator motor running are minimized.

Room Tip: Some items to consider when renting this Blue Spruce cabin: - Steep drive. The drive up to Deer Lod...

We stayed at Deer Lodge, Cedar Cove, and Hemlock Haven for a wedding/family reunion. Everyone loved the cabins - they were charming in their rustic decor, and were all close together and easy to walk back & forth from. All of them had kitchens with ample kitchenware, lots of comfy seating, and spacious common areas for hanging out. The views were also beautiful. Everyone was also excited by the hot tubs. It was definitely a cheaper & more fun alternative for the family than getting standard hotel rooms. Ruth was great - my family had a ton of questions about various amenities etc. and she was extremely responsive via e-mail and phone, and patiently answered everyone's questions.

The only downside was that there's really bad cell phone reception (obviously not Tuckaleechee's fault, but just FYI). If you're looking to retreat into the woods from everything including phone calls, that's great. But it made logistics difficult for my family, because they were all from out of town and needed to communicate with each other to get places and meet up etc. They do have Wifi though in most of their cabins. Also FYI, Tuckaleechee Retreat Center is a religious Christian venue - so they do not allow alcohol and may frown upon activities that clash with the Christian moral code.

Over all, everyone had a great experience, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good wholesome retreat.

I went with a group of about 20 ladies for a retreat. We got a friendly reception. The place has a quaint lobby that makes me feel at home. Great stone fireplace in the lobby as well as an antique piano that was like nothing I've ever seen. The ceilings had large beams and the rooms were decorated in keeping with the area mountain culture. They had a stack of family games that we used some evenings. They had a TV and we used it once to watch a DVD that someone brought. Modern pool and hot tub available, but it was too cool to us the pool. Our retreat group loved the spacious kitchen since we chose to use it for many of our meals. There was plenty of room in the two refrigerators, stoves, and counter space. The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Great pillows. (I'm a fan of good pillows) The location is near to Gatlingburg and Pigeon Forge (Dollywood) which gives you many options for activities! Cades Cove was a beautiful place to see deer and wildlife.

Room Tip: Most rooms seem to be the same.
