“VIEWS!”

The best views around - I love the parkway - views of Maryville and of the valley! Pack a lunch and spend the day.

“Beautiful with vistas and hiking trails”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

Beautiful route with many pull offs and vistas. There are even some trail heads off of this route. I recommend Look Rock hiking trail and view. It is a .5 mile trip to the top of a 360 degree lookout that rivals Clingman's Dome. The trip back down is another .5 miles.

“Lesser-traveled Diversion Drive”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

Worth the drive, particularly if you simply want to enjoy some lovely views and plenty of "elbow room" when taking your pictures. On the way up, we stopped at several pull outs for photos of the valley and towns below. Encountered a number of motorcyclists and just a few cars. Refreshing to drive a road so "open" in the afternoon! We drove to the parking area for Look Rock, but opted to take photos at the overlook right there instead of doing the extra 1/2 mike hike to the "real" rock. After re-reading cattlefarm's review, I kinda wish we'd made the extra effort...just to show our grandson an observation tower view. But we stopped at the pullouts on the way down to capture some river valley views which would be even lovelier in early or evening hours. Saw a turtle crossing the road, too...even he appreciates the lesser path!

“No comparison to Blue Ridge Parkway, but worth a drive.”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

We have driven the parkway twice. It is about 20 miles long, and doesn't get really high, but does give good views back into the Tennessee River valley, and of the mountain ridges to the south. The approach from the south end on Rt 129 is also a very pretty drive along the river. Worth doing.....

“Definitely Worth the Drive”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

Many times over the past few years I have driven by the exit for the Foothills Parkway but never took the chance to see it. One day not long ago, I decided to drive this scenic route and I'm so glad I did. If you are ever find yourself in Townsend, TN and happen to be driving by the Foothills Parkway, take the exit and I promise you won't be disappointed.
