“Way Satisfied!!”
Reviewed 3 January 2014

Booked this room online and got an excellent online price and was superbly amazed by the size of our room. It was huge and had everything is claimed to have....hot tub, fireplace and large comfortable bed! Have booked other places before online only to be disappointed but NOT with Best Western. Made our New Years Eve most pleasurable!!

Stayed over for a friend's wedding. This hotel was only 7 miles from event. Room was great. Breakfast was good. I would stay here anytime in Townsend area. Rocking chairs outside your room is a quaint extra.

Stayed here before it was remodeled and became best western. Sadly even with new paint, new decor and carpet the beds were hard like they kept the old mattresses. Staples coming out of the carpet. Room service never came to clean our room or bring fresh towels. We had to get those ourselves. Not to mention the owner was EXTREMELY rude and not accommodating or apologetic for no cleaning service and staples. An apology goes a long way.
The price may be good and the breakfast nice but the rest is mediocre or rough at best. Very disappointing.

I do apologize for your not so great stay. Our mattresses are new, however if they weren't comfortable I'm sorry. I will look into the rudeness and address that. We have took care of all the other complaints. Have a great day.

Best Western Cades Cove Inn was a convenient, pleasant place to stay and not hard to get to. Don't trust your GPS though near the " Smokies". Call for best directions and enjoy the drive from Pigeon Forge on Wears Valley Road when in the area. There are several places you will want to stop and visit along this drive including shopping, art galleries, museums, visitors centers, and of course Cades Cove.

Very good hotel in Townsend which is the very quiet side of the Smokies. This hotel is about 8 minutes from the park entrance and about 22 miles from Cades Cove. There is very little traffic on this side. However yiou are only about 30 minutes travel time (Wears Valley Road) if you want to go over to Pigeon forge and Sevierville to shop and partake of the some of the shows and of course Dollywood. This was originally a Hampton Inn, then an Econolodge and of course now a Best Western. Beware - there are no elevators. If you require handicap access tell the reservationist right up front that you must have a ground floor room. It will be next to impossible to change when you arrive. It has been over-hauled in the last couple of years - lobby, breakfast area, and rooms. We stayed in room 110 ground floor east side. We found this room to be superbly clean. I havent found a cleaner bathroom in any 5-star hotel or cruise ship. The only difficulty I encountered was to get the HVAC fan to operate on high. It would not. I found all appliances (to incldue microwave and refrigerator) to be in satisfactory operating order. We were impressed with the firmness of the mattress and the TV was an LG flatscreen with all of the Comcast channels out of Knoxville. If you are staying here after Thanksgiving until somtime in March that is the off-season with some restaurants closed for the season. Miss Lilly's Cafe, Riverstone Restaurant ands AJ's do remain open all year long. Miss Lilly's Cafe is a good place for a Sunday brunch and they have excellent ribs.
Lets review the complimentary breakfast offered by the hotel. It is passable. I say that because the biscuits that are offered are fairly hard and can be softened up with the gravy. The eggs are flat and folded over with cheese in the middle. There is a variety of cereals, fruit and yogurt and the sausage and bacon are very good. A few different types of bread are offered for toasting. Riverstone Restaurant and AJ's also over breakfast. We were here for a 2 day event and found this hotel to be very peaceful even though it was sold out because of our event. I give the hotel mgmt a "F" grade because of what they would not do for the person who planned this event and was responsible for selling out their hotel for 2 nights - the event planner and her spouse were going to have to check out and go home after the event ended on Friday evening - the hotel staff would not allow them to extend and remain in the room to rest and change - therefore they sat in the lobby for over 5 hours until our final event began. Hey Cades Cove Inn - you needed to have treated them better then that!
Beware - we encountered difficulty checking in and doing credit card processing. The desk clerk came up with a stolen credit card flag on all of our credit cards. I had one of our banks on the phone telling me that there wasnt anything wrong with our cards and they couldnt even see the charge being initiated. Finally the clerk rebooted her computer and it cleared all the flags! The error was in the hotel's software. I dont think any of their staff is trained on alternate actions if something like this occurs. Would I return? Yes, out of the 3 or 4 hotels on this side I would stay here again.

Room Tip: If you require a hanicap accessible room - Ground floor - there is no elevator

I am so glad you enjoyed most of your stay. I do apologize for the HVAC system and have resolved its issues. We have had some backup training to make sure the problem with computers doesn't come into play again. I also want to apologize for the mishap with mgmt and your event coordinator. I will look into that for you. Have a great day and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

We reserved our room about 9 months ago in anticipation that this property would be sold out for a 2-day event that was held at the Barn Events Center close by here in Townsend TN. Beware of computer problems with their system when checking in. Their system said that all of our credit cards were stolen. While on the phone with one of my banks which told us that there was no problem with one of the cards presented - the hotel clerk rebooted her computer which cleared the errors that she was receiving. Had she not rebooted and cleared the problem we would have gone to another hotel chain and not written the nice remarks below. We were pleased that we were given a room on the first floor. This hotel used to be a Hampton Inn followed then by Econolodge which has now become a Best Western affiliate. We have often remarked as we have driven by this hotel as to how nice the exterior looks. Upon arrival we were quickly checked in and headed to our room. Bear in mind that his was the older architecture of a former Hampton Inn, meaning all rooms have doors facing to the outside. There are no interior hallways and there are no elevators. If you require a handicap accessible room you will need to make sure that you have them enter that information when you makle the reservation. The room in my opinion was found to be clean beyouind expectations. The bathroom area was the cleanest I have seen in any 5 star hotels. All of the furniture and appliances were in great working order. The fan on the window HVAC unit did not blow on high - that could have been operator error by me but this was December so we still got air movement but on a low volume. We had great water pressure and the water stayed hot during peak showering times. We noted as did others that there were no Christmas decorations visible anywhere on the property. Even though the owner (his name gave it away) most likely doesnt celebrate Christmas, he could have provided some Christmas decorations. Beware of the breakfast - the biscuits are as hard as hockey pucks but we were able to soften them and cut them by slathering them with gravy. The eggs appeared to be a flat folded over with cheese inside and tasteless. There were several different cereals, fruit, bacon and sausage as well as yogurt, several kinds of bread to toast. In summary, if one overlooks the biscuits and the egg patty the rest of the offering is pretty good. Overall, we think this is the best of the 3 or 4 hotels that are in Townsend. The rooms are beyond clean, updated in the last couple of years and overall the property appears to be well cared for. We will stay here again.

I do apologize for the computer errors and the HVAC system not blowing correctly. These problems have been resolved. The breakfast well the omelette patties were something new we trying out, thanks for the input of how they were. I will also look into the next Christmas seasons decorations. We look forward to your stay again.
