Very children friendly family restaurant. Have only eaten breakfast here twice but enjoyed the buffet both times. Food is good and well prepared. Staff is very friendly.

Riverstone has always been our pick of breakfast eateries, whem we don't cook at the motel. We decided to try A. J.'s. Bad idea! There were two servers on duty (that we could see) and she had difficulty keeping up with three tables. One coffee refill in the entire time (about 45 - 60 minutes); three of us did the breakfast buffet, it was pitiful and mom ordered from the menu. Biscuits and gravy... easy right!?! Water gravy with NO flavor...REALLY??? The apparent owner was 'strutting" around seemingly just proud to be there with no care as to how the service or food quality was. We will never go back. This was a very, very bad experience!

Travel style:
Completely Casual local family of three spending a day in Pigeon Forge left out early to enjoy a Morning Horseback Ride in The Smokies. Our intention was to find a local restaurant to grab some breakfast along the way on highway 321. This was the first place we spotted outside of Maryville.

Parking:
Plenty.

Service:
Not one sign of a friendly face could be found in this establishment. Of the three servers that were working the Morning of our visit; not one cracked a smile nor a hint of a pleasant personality was shown.

Food:
We opted for the buffet.
Food was lackluster at best. Fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast, pancakes, grits, tater tots, cinnamon rolls, biscuits and gravy were offered.

Check out:
The Southern not so hospitality continued with the person at the register. :(

Overall:
The servers need a dose of happiness and be schooled in traditional Southern hospitality. I would recommend going a few more miles down the road.

Terrible food.....We went for breakfast and it was bad. Avoid the buffet, the food is not kept at a safe serving temperature. Had a country ham biscuit and it was gray and taste like liver. The waitresses could care less if you liked it or not.We commented that it was cold and could we move to another table and the waitress said "it is going to be cold everywhere".

We did not realize it was even a restaurant at first glance, just a quick stop grocery. Just glad to have a hot breakfast, passed up the breakfast buffet. Biscuit, eggs and sausage OK. Few breakfast choices in Townsend.
