“Everyone should be a farm kid for a weekend.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2013

Our family rented all 3 properties of the ranch for a long family weekend. We had a great time celebrating Christmas, enjoying each other, walking the llama, visiting the horses, exploring the farm and creating new family memories. Janice was the perfect hostess. She shared her ranch with us with open arms. Our kids loved getting up early feed the animals, and being 'farm kids' for the weekend. Since our schedule didn't allow for riding, we plan on returning this summer for another visit. We'd recommend it to anyone who wants something different, wants something special, and wants something unique.

We didn't know what to expect and when we met Janice we felt right at home. Our girls got up each morning on vacation at 6:45am to help feed the horses, turkeys, bunnies and the rest of the crew. They didn't want to leave. Janice was so helpful and taught us so much when we rode. Please take time to visit her and tell her we said Yee Ha! Her mom was great too!

Room Tip: All the rooms were good.

Warm sunshine + colorful trees + superb horses + friendly, knowledgeable guides = a GREAT day riding in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains! Janice met us with a broad smile and a hug. The horses we were to ride were already in their stalls and mostly ready for saddling. We were glad to help finish the process, select our helmets, and prepare to mount up. Janice took the lead with Janie (a volunteer helper) in the middle. The half-day ride along trails that Janice and her husband (now deceased) cut by hand was outstanding. We had an absolutely marvelous time---a wonderful way for my daughter to remember East Tennessee during her upcoming deployment to Afghanistan. I and my whole family strongly recommend Twin Valley as both a B&B and a riding stable.

Room Tip: We didn't stay overnight, but we did tour the Ranch House and Luke's Cabin. They would be a...

We stayed here to visit the Smoky mountains and had a wonderful stay. Janice and her mother Julia are fantastic hosts and my mother in law enjoyed waking up to help groom the horses. We look forward to coming back again. If you're expecting frills and fanciness, go somewhere else. But if you're looking for a memorable stay with warm hospitality at a great price, this place is it.

After reading the previous reviews my Husband & I took our 7yr old Daughter here for our vacation because we knew she would not be bored because she adores animals. We were right on! She had a blast at the ranch! (We stayed in Luke's Cabin) She & my Husband got up at the crack of dawn every morning to help Janice and Julia feed all the animals. We all helped with the night feeding everyday. This is the first vacation I ever had where I got to feel like I was part of the operations of the place. I am amazed how Janice and julia let so many strangers into their daily lives and seem to be unfazed by it. They are truly good people and it was a pleasure meeting them.

Oh & did I mention the horseback riding? That in itself was a very cool experience. My 7yr had never been alone on a horse and she fell in love with it. We rode 2 half days and on different terrain each time. One day was raining & it was still great. The other was on the ranch up the mountain.

If you're looking for the Ritz Carlton, this ain't it. It's a ranch in every sense and I loved it just as it was.

We would like to thank Janice and her mom for the wonderful time we had on her beautiful ranch. This was our granddaughter’s tenth birthday trip. We all had a wonderful time. Janice takes great care in matching the horses to the rider’s skill and also makes sure the trails are fitting the skills. She guards anyone who isn’t comfortable with any part of the ride, while giving those with more skill some challenges. Feeding, grooming, and just helping out with the animals was wonderful, especially for our granddaughter. She enjoyed everything from horses to kittens. She was the self-designated lama walker for the weekend and loved every minute. The accommodations are not fancy, but clean and comfortable. Who wants fancy when on a western horse ranch? Janice is patient, but wants to be sure you come away from the experience with more horse handling skills than you arrived with. She is always asking questions about horses and makes learning about them fun for all. If you enjoy horses, a quite, rustic setting, beautiful scenery, and just old fashion hospitality, give Janice a try, I’m sure you’ll be pleased. We will be back!

You have to go here! The price is great. The hospitality is great! Horseback riding here is a full on experience for anyone new to it. They will teach you and be patient with you. Plus, it is not touristy and crowded.
