“Deserves A Michelin Star or Two”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014

Walland, Tennessee is about the last place we expected to find anything decent, let alone of the extraordinary quality and charm of Blackberry Farm. It is not in the middle of nothing, it is, in fact, about 100 miles east of the middle of nothing, but as the Michelin people say - worth the trip. The food is astonishingly good, the accommodations excellent, the staff superb, the place, stunningly beautiful. It is as though someone plucked Le Manoir Aux Quat Saisons from Oxfordshire and plopped it into the middle of Tennessee. Amazing.

Room Tip: We booked a private cottage. Highly recommended.

Service equal to Four Seasons in a farm setting. The on property restaurant is destination worthy alone. Amazing meals can be had here. They also have an extensive spirits list. Fun activities abound. Expensive, but that's to be expected from a world class establishment.

My husband and I stayed at Blackberry Farm for four nights (through a great AmEx deal the farm offers--buy three nights and get a complimentary fourth). I wished we could've streched our stay. We were looking for a place to relax after a very harsh winter, and Blackberry Farm did not disappoint. From the accommodations, to the other-worldly dinners, to the first-in-class service, this was an experience we are not soon to forget. How wonderful to be greeted and served every day by staff who are so happy to help you? (Where else can we find this? Sign us up!) Blackberry Farm offers several activities. We participated in a canoeing excursion guided by good-natured Dusty, who should write a book about the history of the area--he was very entertaining and knowledgeable. At night we had dinner in The Barn, a very large barn on the property that was relocated from Lancaster, PA, and converted into a restaurant. The menu options changed every night we were there, and while we are normally not adventurous eaters, it prompted us to try new things as every dish was incredible. The farm also has 160,000 bottles of wine on site and its sommalier recently received the James Beard Award. Blackberry Farm offers so many things--there's something for everyone.

Room Tip: We stayed in an estate room in the Guest House. The Guest House is generally quieter than the other...

My wife and I came up for a two night stay this winter. We thought going in it maybe an overhyped place, but we were wrong. The accommodations and food were amazing. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with fireplaces. My wife went to the spa and had a great experience. The food is on par with the best restaurants in Napa/Yountville. Since we are down the road in Nashville, we are planning our second trip next year.

We have stayed at Blackberry Farm on multiple occasions, trying to get there at least once a year. Yes, it's expensive.....and worth every penny. I immediately hit a relaxed state as soon as I see the white fence at the entrance and hear the bluegrass music always playing when I check into my room. The food is out of this world and there is a perfect mix of many things to do or nothing at all. Looking forward to going back so I can check out the new spa.

Blackberry Farm had been on our bucket list for a long time, so we finally decided to splurge and visit for my husband's birthday. Everything was exceptional -- the room (Singing Brook Cottage), the service, the food, the scenery. We opted to walk rather than use the golf cart that was provided with our room. We figured any bit of activity would help given all of the wonderful meals we were eating. Ambience and quality of food exceeded Inn at Little Washington in our opinion. We opted for box lunches so we could get out and hike. They were the most elegant boxed lunches I have ever seen -- complete with printed menus! Dinner is served in the "Barn" and is truly exceptional. Wine list is extensive, and there are plenty of wine specialists to help with the choices. I

Room Tip: We loved our Singing Brook Cottage room. It was elegant, airy and bright, even though it was tucked...

This is a special and unique "farm" with great food and nice accommodations nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Ample activities, including hiking, spa, fishing, sporting clays are on the property and the food/service is very good (gourmet breakfast, lunch and dinner is included, which largely accounts for room rates). Service is friendly and very good, though, not providing ice buckets, glasses or water bottles in rooms (even at turndown) seemed odd for the tariff, though they were nearby in well-stocked "self-service" pantries (along with ice cream, soft drinks and various snacks). Will return though do think a bit of tweaking could get them to 5 star status and better value for dollars expended. Cloister at Sea Island, Greenbrier, Primland, Palmetto Bluff, Kiawah and Inn at Little Washington still remain our top favorites for the larger region.

Room Tip: Master Suite in Main House, Teaberry, was excellent for mountain view and proximity to hiking trails...
