We have stayed here multiple times over the last few years, and have never been disappointed. Clean rooms, good service, very reasonable rates. The hotel and the restaurant next door owned by the same family and its great as well. A good place to stay if you are swimming at the state park nearby or travelling trough west Texas on I-10. Highly recommend!

We wanted to swim in Balmorhea State Park's wonderful natural artesian pool, so stayed overnight here. It was a very nice stop... quaint like a little oasis. Great location and friendly service. We'll recommend it to others.

We stayed overnight in El Oso Flojo Lodge. It is conveniently located not far off the I-10, and was a perfect place to stop on our drive from Albuquerque NM, to San Antonio TX. The rooms are lovely and large, and have air con, a fridge, TV and everything we personally needed. Not sure if there was internet available, but this did not matter to us as it was a quick stop. Is located not too far from the springs in Balmorhea. Overall, I would recommend this lodge to others. We found it a much nicer place to stay than Pecos (and that town was very booked up in terms of reservations!).

Room Tip: La Colorado was a nice sized room with a King sized bed- check the room and price list on the websit...

For the small town of Balmorhea this is a diamond in the rough. The rooms are quite nice and decorated with nice quality furniture, not your typical hotel quality furniture. Shower was extremely spacious and beautiful. The restaurant attached was great, except slow service. The only issue I have with this hotel is the nonexistent from desk, and I do mean nonexistent! When it's time to check out, there is a drop box, and a sign on the counter telling you to use the drop box. I tried returning for another dive weekend at Balmorhea. I called twice, left messages and sent an email requesting a reservation, but was not contacted. Really nice hotel for the area, unfortunately with horrible service!

Rooms and courtyard are very attractive, but the service (after waiting 5 minutes for someone to show) consisted of someone showing up just long enough to take more than $100 of my hard-earned money, and never seen again.

Once in the room? No refrigerator. No shampoo. Not even soap. The large vessel sink and hard-to-operate faucet on the small counter meant little room for toiletries - and no hooks for towels. The huge shower would have been nicer if there had been anything resembling a shelf for soap or shampoo, and the rain-type shower head had most of its nozzles clogged (which I then unclogged myself).

The only thing that saved the visit from being a total disaster was my son, after playing in the courtyard and walking down the road for ice cream, proclaimed it the "best night ever".

Beautiful little place. I am a sucker for gardens so the little Spanish style courtyard, fountain, and birds made this paradisaical. Rooms are nice considering the lack of alternatives in a town this small. Ours featured a nice tiled shower and comfy beds. The little basket of snacks and drinks was very welcome after a long drive.

A great find during a road trip.

There aren't many places to stay near Balmorhea, and finding one like El Oso Flojo was a great treat. Nice central grounds, barn swallows flitting about, large, comfy rooms. We stayed twice, once in each directions and it was very good both times.

Some fixtures are getting older and the ACs make a lot of noise, but that's to be expected at roadside inns. This one was far better than most.
