Just got back from the ranch, we used the special off season rate, great bargin. Felt welcome from the first minte there to the last. Trail rides were so much fun, each time we rode we had a chance to experience a diffent horse. Wranglers took great care of us making sure the horse we rode were right for us with proper sturip adustments. Rooms were clean and big, meals tasty with very nice cook staff. We were treated like family.
We are already planning two more trips there next year, want to have fun Go to Rancho Cortez. Thank you, Larry, Mark, Chris and the rest of the staff. See you next year.

Thank you for the great review! We're happy to offer low off-season rates-it keeps our employees working full-time, (And we don't want to lose them!) See you next year.

We were home visiting my folks for Christmas, so decided to do the "full day" at Rancho Cortez so we could get a couple trail rides in. What a fun time! This is the third dude ranch we've visited in Bandera and our kids voted this one as their favorite. Honestly, all three have been outstanding (I really don't think you can go wrong at most of these places), but the small, close-knit atmosphere at Rancho Cortez was great! All of the folks at the ranch were super nice and we had a ball while there. Started out with a trail ride, followed by lunch, then roping, wagon ride, another trail ride, the indoor pool, feeding the horses, dinner, and a campfire with s'mores. How can you top that? Larry gives personal attention to all of his guests and made us all feel at home, regardless of age (the 8 of us ranged from 7 years old to 68 years old).

Disappointing experience. Very disorganized fitness/weight loss ranch that also provides dude ranch experience. Not a good choice for people new to fitness, those significantly overweight or those requiring some modifications to exercises due to health issues or prior injuries. Michael the head trainer is okay but basically just run of the mill trainers. The food was a huge disappointment, bland and monotonous.

So sorry you were disappointed-but I strongly disagree that our trainers are run-of-the-mill, or that they don't offer exercise modifications. And we prefer to call our program "flexible". We adjust our schedule based on guest ability and weather. The food is home-cooked, low fat, low carb, high protein.

The ranch experience is not for everyone.

This was one of the best weekend vacations our whole family (8 adults, 2 young children) has ever had. We are from south Texas and come from a rural community where we are used to roping, riding and feeding Longhorns however we were given such royal treatment from the Wranglers and owner, Larry that it was a whole new experience for the whole family. All but one of us were pretty much novices with horseback riding and so the trail rides where the best! The two young children (ages 3 & 7) had the BEST time of their young lives. They both love horses and were able to ride either on the trail ride for the 7 year old or around the arena for the 3 year old. Mingling with the wranglers while practicing how to rope a steer dummy was so much fun and enjoyed by all. I HIGHLY recommend this place if you want to ride horses and have some fun down time away from cell phones and work business. There is NO cell service or TV so that made it even better than usual. Our accommodations were great...it's not the Hilton but it was nice and clean. We hope to make this an annual event for our family!!

Room Tip: For a large family group the Navajo with the adjourning Anasazi will sleep 16 comfortably and can ac...

Booked to go here for the day and have a cowboy/ranch experience. We were on a tour of Texas,Tennesee and Loiusianna. Coming from the UK and not used to horse riding i suppose you could say we were complete novices. Having checked in and signed the disclaimer we were pointed in the direction of the rope practise area...wow !!! a rope and a make shift metal steer. I would have to say we did have fun getting the knack of "the flick process" however i did find Larry the owner annoying and somewhat condisending to my partner Julie who really was trying her best.
after about an hour we were asked to saddle up and go for a pony trek , again the cowboy responsible for our short trek was somewhat condisending and at times rude,,but apparently he had just wrtten his cowboy truck off so i suppose he was a little stressed out (best not fetch your personal problems to work!!!) .. We then had lunch...quite nice actually and got to meet some other guests who were staying on the ranch .
Then somewhat of a lull !!! what do we do next ? So larry took us on another trek to see the longhorns and the views, again it was enjoyable but only lasted an hour.
We then decided that there seemed to be no structure as such and called it day as we had a tight schedule.
Overall i would have to say to...Larry and team...Stick to horses and cattle...your people skills are somewhat lacking.
Oh..and dont be condisending to your payroll ,we had travelled a long way for a special day !

Sorry you were disappointed. There are lots of activities throughout the day, but also plenty of "down" time to just relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery and peaceful environment.

I just spent the last two nights at Rancho Cortez and it was fabulous. Must Do! You have the opportunity to go on three trail rides in the morning and three in the afternoon. I did one each in the morning and afternoon. I also got a chance to ride a Peruvian in the corral that is not quite ready to be used as a trail horse. Learned how to make a horse backup. I had a bad back and the staff were terrific getting me a solid horse and helped me to mount and dismount. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to ride at all. I wore my back brace and everything was great.

They also have a fat farm. Talked with one guy who had been there for two weeks and had lost 12 lbs. Meet people from England, Egypt, Scotland. Apparently more people from outside the US go there, than Americans. Larry, Mark and Alex were wonderful, as was Cheryl in the office.

I was traveling alone and had a private cabin complete with a king size bed and a bunk bed in the main room with an adjoining room that had bunk beds and a single bed. Room for a whole family. Of course there was also a bathroom and a front porch to sit out on and enjoy the beautiful Texas hills.

Breakfast at 8 AM, Lunch at Noon and Dinner at 6 PM. You won't go hungry, after riding you work up a good appetite. There is plenty of hearty food and healthy food to suit everyone.

If you can stand to unwind and let go of phones, television and the internet, this is the place. There is limited internet access, but why ruin the experience with technology. We sat around the campfire at night and exchanged stories, learned a lot about American history, horses and culture. This is a bucket list adventure, I left a few hours ago and miss it already.

Room Tip: Area is very remote, I got better directions with SIRI than mapquest.

There were three couples in our group. We left Houston for a 9 day Wild West Vacation. Our last two nights were spent on the Rancho Cortez Dude Ranch. We had an awesome experience there. We rode horses, fed the steer, stood on the back of a horse (seriously, I did!), learned to twirl a lasso and lasso a steel steer, hiked, and sat in a hot tub enjoying a bottle of wine. The campfires were the highlights of the trip. Listening to Larry tell stories is a true treat. He will make you laugh and giggle as if you were a kid again. The food was homemade and very good. The kitchen staff and Chris helped us coordinate a surprise birthday celebration the last night of our stay for one guy. They even baked a cake and cupcakes for us. We drive into town to shop one afternoon I. Bandera and then spent the last night dancing and drinking at 11th Street Bar in Bandera celebrating our friend's birthday. The drive to and from isn't that far really. The beds weren't that comfortable but then again we were on a dude ranch so luxury was not what we were looking for. If you're looking for a place to stay in Bandera then check this place out. Lots of history to enjoy and lots fun to be had. We will be back.
