“Texas at its best!”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

My friend and I got out of town for the weekend to go experience a dude ranch. Though we've both lived in Texas for decades, neither of us had ridden a horse since we were kids. What a BLAST! Though we didn't get to go fast, it was still fun. The animals, the scenery, and the people at the Silver Spur are top class. Even the other guests (from all over the world) made this a weekend to go down in the best memories book! I plan on returning.

The pool was not operating when we were there, and I never found a fitness room...but walking the trails and riding the horses and interacting with the animals was a lot more fun than sweating in some room with mirrors!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with windows. Some don't have them! We stayed in the Jesse James room, and it was...

The Adventurers is a group of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities from the Austin, TX area. This year we took 20 Adventurers to the Silver Spur ranch for a week. They learned a lot about riding a horse. They even got to help unsaddle them and brush them one day. They rode in a hay wagon to learn about Longhorns. They fed donkeys, they hiked and hunted fossils. They swam in the AWESOME swimming pool everyday. What a treat that was. THe staff had campfires for us with S'mores. Instead of just providing Karaoke equipment for us, the staff even joined in with us for a night of Karaoke. The food was great! The wranglers, were great with our group. They were very patient with each rider.

We loved our Adventure SO much in early June that we went back for a day trip last week. We rode horses again, swam and had an awesome enchilada lunch! It was like visiting family. The Adventurers were so excited to see their old friends (the staff) and they were welcomed with open arms!! THANK YOU Silver Spur Ranch Staff for making the Adventurers feel SO special!

Room Tip: The rooms vary in size so there is a room to suit everyone's needs. We had our big group of male...

This is our second time to the Silver Spur guest ranch. As is true with many places, the staff can make or break a vacation. The folks at Silver Spur again performed top-notch. The facilities are clean and all in working order, the ranch itself is beautiful, and there are plenty of activities for guests while not riding. Make sure to bring extra cash to tip the wranglers- usually about $5 per person per ride.. So an extra $10 per day per person.

This is the best place to slow life down, relax and enjoy yourself. Our kids range from 6-16. Everyone had a blast. We celebrated our sons birthday here. The horseback riding is beautiful, the staff makes you feel welcome, the place is clean, the food Is fantastic, and you could not relax more. You can turn your kids loose to enjoy themselves without a worry in the world. They know to come back when the dinner bell rings.

I take an annual trip to Bandera with a group of friends and our kids. We have visited the Silver Spur for a day each year, the past 5 years, and always enjoy our time there. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining -- and I feel my kids are safe on the rides under the supervision of the expert wranglers. We enjoy the horseback riding, the pool, the supper, hanging out and playing games at the fantastic ranch house, the evening hay ride to meet the beautiful Texas longhorns, and the campfire. A lovely experience I recommend.

Our family had a awesome time at the Silver Spur Ranch. The hospitality of the staff was great and the pool was super. Our daughter loved all of the special attention from the staff. We enjoyed riding the horses (and the wranglers were wonderful), walking trails, hayrides (meeting the longhorns and riding to the state natural area next door), and the campfire. We look forward to another visit!

My family was guests of Silver Spur Ranch on Monday, May 27th. We had the most amazing day. Everyone we meet saw they we had a great time. My grandchildren loved all the animals especially the four month old donkey named Rockie. The amenities are awesome and everything you read on their website is absolutely true from the homemade cookies served all day, coffee, lemonade and tea. The evening meal was fantastic followed by a trail ride and campfire with smore's. Jay and his staff are amazing. My grandchildren loved the horse back riding and I loved hanging out at their beautiful crystal clear pool. Thank you for the memories we will talk about a life time with our daughter and grandchildren. You truly go the extra mile to ensure everyone has a great time. Oklahoma Travelers
