“Pictures are deceiving”
Reviewed 9 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

If your looking for a place to get your feet wet and relax, don't bother........

Well, we drove up to the cabin via directions given by Ms. Susie, accurate directions but the gate of entrance has an address that is torn off at the gate....so you can not check the entrance by the address. The outside of the cabin was very disheveled, you had old fire pits that were just laying around the yard, unraveled water hose laid out for display, and high grass that was not cut. The area was not groomed at all.

But the worst part of the outside are was the WATER......the pictures shows these wonderful creek areas that looks like you can walk to and wade in.......Heck no, it was like a standing still SWAMP with high grass all around and no entrance to even get near the water areas (not that I wanted too)........the only reason we made these reservations were by the pictures of the running water!!!....it appeared as if you could sun bathe or at lease get in the water ankle deep!!!! .....but no, it was disgusting!.

well the cabin itself was very nice......not an issue at all

the other issue we had was, I had to call Ms. Susie at the number provided on the directions and ask her "when should we expect breakfast, where is the water and just other information as to what is available around the area......... she told me someone would be by soon to speak with me to give me that information.....No one showed up! The next morning, the knock came at 0940. Jumping off the loft trying to get to the door!
The person who brought the breakfast did not say a word...
During the day we had a car drive up the driveway and no one got out it just stopped at the driveway.....
We had a gentleman walk up to the cabin by our parked car and just stand there. By the time we were able to get dressed and come outside the man was gone (weird) This was very unnerving for us!

I would not recommend this place if you are looking for a place to relax by a creek or to enjoy outside....it was not a relaxing place at all.

Alicia I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. We have booked this property for more than twelve years with virtually no complaints. There is a 3' x 4' metal painted sign attached to the fence at the gate entrance that says THE LAST OUTPOST B&B. The mailbox at the gate entrance has the address on it, 6068 FM 2828.
Regarding the water issues. We have not had any rain in two months, thus the water hose was left near the fire pit and grill to prevent stray sparks from starting a grass fire with the few tuffs of native grass in front of the cabin. The lack of rain has also impacted the creek which is listed as "SEASONAL" on the property description. Guests cross the creek driving into the property so that should have been visible to you upon your arrival. Breakfast was served to the cabins at 8:30 on Saturday morning as the host has to be at work in Comfort by 9 AM. Breakfast on Sundays is usually served at 9:30 AM to allow guests to sleep in. There are three facilities on the property so other guests do drive in and out during their stays. The hosts live on the property so I assume the man you saw was the owner or possibly another guest staying there out on a walk. The other guests staying at The Last Outpost enjoyed their stay that weekend commenting on mingling with the cattle, chickens and horses on the ranch and watching the wildlife. I am sorry we did not meet with your expectations. We will try our best to do better in the future.
