One of the best parks in Baytown. Great place for bird watching, family fun or group events suitable for outside. Nice breeze off the bay.

We participate in the United Way of Day of Caring. We revitalized the children's play area. It is a wonderful place to visit in Baytown for nature lovers and for a peaceful visit. I frequently visit just to take in the beautiful scenery. I would recommend the visit to anyone.

It was suggestd we visit the Nature Center as we were our exploring some of the area's historical sites and were surprised to find such a neat little place off a fairly non-descript road to an oil refinery! It doesn't look like you might see much from the entrance, but after paying our $3/person entry fee we were pleasantly surprised that it is a good size park with great views of the water. There were lots of people fishing and picnicking, but we were content to watch the birds, take some pictures, read a few signs and climb to the top of the "gazebo" that sits atop a small hill towards the back of the property. You get a great view of the area from the gazebo. The park area used to be a neighborhood that starting sinking because too much groundwater was taken out from under the area, so the houses are gone now but you can still tell where some of the streets used to be.

We've been going down to this nature center for a few years and currently they're in the process of cleaning up from drought, making it more natural (it is the old Brownwood subdivision that was condemned years ago), and it's a great place to think of how the earth would be if man were to disappear. All these years and our footprint still remains.
