We have spent 3 nights in the River Cabins and we have enjoyed every minute of it. Kabalebo was the highlight of our trip through Suriname!
Kabalebo resort is a very remote place, surrounded by virgin rainforest. It's a scenic flight from the capital to reach the resort, we found the flight part of the fun.
The river cabins have an isolated location, about 700 meters away from the main lodge buildings, which we considered as a plus, but other travellers might want to stay closer to the buzz. We loved the incredible silence (supplemented with bird songs).
The view from the cabins towards the river and the rainforest was stunning, as was bird life (kingfishers, parrots and alike), easily watched from the balcony. Transport to and from the cabins was provided by electric golf cars.
Staff was very attentive, caring for our needs properly.
We had booked a flexible arrangement, allowing us to choose next days activities at the evenings before. All our activites were guided by a knowledgeable local guide. We loved the kayak trip on the Kabalebo river.
Food was good, even the takeaway lunch boxes.
Lodging prices are quite high, but we can certainly recommend this lodge for those people that are nature and rainforest lovers and don't mind being very remote from civilization.More
