This is an off the highway place as well.. It is a cool general store with other buildings on the site used for special occasions. It has a nice lunch area & have absolutely great homemade pies. Stop & take a look if you get a chance. We travel 8 miles just for the pie.

“Pleasant Surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2014

We have passed by this location many times but just never realized what we were missing! What a delightfully, delicious hidden gem! It is a very room gift shop with eatery in the back. Plenty of parking and seating. They are open from 9-5 Tues. thru Sat. and serve a short menu of reasonably priced sandwich/salad fare. We thoroughly enjoyed our soup and sandwich with chips. All the ingredients were super fresh and the wheatberry bread was a flavorful addition with the sandwich. The broccoli cheese soup was delicious and a cup is just the right amount. After finishing our lunch and enjoying the taste of all we decided we had to try the fresh pie for dessert. So glad we did. The cherry pie was just out of the oven and the coconut cream pie was perfect being not too sweet but oh so creamy and the meringue was such a perfect texture and flavor. We perused through the gift shop and there is a varied assortment of all sorts of items with nearly all being affordable to purchase. This place is SUPER CLEAN and inviting and the staff is friendly and service superb. We noticed a bakery counter with pastries and chocolates but didn't make it over there. Afraid we'd surely over indulge after our delicious desserts:) This hideway is a perfect stop off between Boerne and Comfort. There is also a Resale Shop next door open Thurs.-Sun. and an antique store close by. We will definitely be back as it was an enjoyable find! Give them your business and you too will be pleasantly surprised!

“Mega Sweets for Mega Sweeties”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2014

They got the name of this place wrong. It should be Sweetieville. As you might surmise, we did not get there in time to try the simple sandwich, soup or salad offerings. What we did get was a bag full of pies and pastries that were to live for. As I have said before, I am too old to have food that I want to die for. I will leave the dying superlative to the youngsters. Anyway, the apple fritters were sweet and fresh with a good portion of apple filling and cinnamon so pronounced that you thought you were eating a piece of bark from Ceylon (that's Sri Lanka to you youngsters) though it blended well in to a sublime pastry. The cream cheese layered pastries were another delight; flaky dough layers in a flat oval bisected with a latitude of what tasted like cheese cake . . . making ya hungry yet? Blueberry muffins were very good though not a particular favorite of mine. Then the pies . . . . we bought a half lemon chiffon and a half coconut creme. I swear the meringue was the lightest poof of cloud nine I have ever had. That and the fillings were just scrumptious!
I usually don't get very worked up over bakery sweets, but everything we bought here was rich, satisfying and as good a rendition of the dessert as I have had in my sweet young life :>). Some lovely ladies run the place and are as dolce as the products they sell. You can even sit on the porch or stroll the tree lined lanes in this little village to work off 1/87th of the calories you will eat sampling the sweets here. We figured it would take about 783 laps around the place to work off the mega calories we consumed . . . but loved every mouthful of it.
