The prices are pretty high, but everything we had was Fabulous!!! Ordering your food up front at cash register before setting down isn't my favorite, but waitress was Excellent.

“Some improvements are needed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014

Atmosphere is kinda cool. Its in a old hotel. You order and pay as soon are you enter. You're given a leather hotel key chain with your order number. Seat yourself. The server comes by to look at your receipt, confirms your order and brings your drinks. I ordered the one inch ribeye and my companion ordered the ribeye medallions. Both were ordered medium rare. My steak arrived well done and his arrived well done and rare depending on what medallion he was eating. We mentioned this to the server. She said we could have new ones but we decided to eat what we had. The steak was good despite being over cooked. My grilled vegetables weren't grilled but sautéed and not very warm. The french fries were coated in flour and then fried. They were piping hot and tasty. Every order includes bread pudding for dessert. It was the highlight of the meal. The place has great potential but service could be better. It makes it a bit awkward when you pay and tip prior to being seated. I'd be willing to try the place again in the future.

“Bit of the old west”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

Canadian is a unique little town in the Panhandle with a rich history of cattle ranching. It is also located in a dry county that has no bars except at private clubs and so you can join a club here and have a glass of wine with your dinner. The food is basic western fare with beef and chicken. It is good and flavorful but veggies are over cooked for those patrons from either coast. The atmosphere is like being in an old saloon. Patrons range from local business people to ranchers and cowboys.. Wait staff is friendly and added to the atmosphere.

“Don't skip the bread pudding ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 January 2014 via mobile

The Cattle Exchange occupies the first floor of the old Moody Hotel in town and you can smell their barbecue all the way up Main Street.

Mind your Ps and Qs here, it's "sir" and "ma'am" around here on top of the standard "please" and "thank you". The high standards admittedly add a lot of extra words to the mere task of asking a waitress for a straw, but I'm not complaining because the bbq is really good and the higher standards are refreshing. Politeness costs nothing.

Bread pudding comes standard with lunch. Don't skip it.
