“Great location”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

We stayed here just the one night mainly as we were close to the canyon. Hotel ok, room nice and clean. bed comfy. The only thing missing was no coffee making machine in room, other than that I would recommend. Close enough to walk around the town which was nice and not far to drive for the canyon.

You may read other reviews about bedbugs and other "horrors" about the Buffalo Inn. Based on our experience, nothing could be farther from the truth.

Don't stay here expecting anything other than a clean place to lay your head down. This place was probably built in the 30's or 40's, but has been completely updated.

Our room was comfortable, had an easy to operate air conditioner, and a shower head that didn't dribble water like most big name hotels. TV was up to date and had all the standard cable programming.

All the staff at the Buffalo Inn were friendly and helpful. For a small town motel, you shouldn't pass it up.

We stayed at the Buffalo Inn over the weekend and I was satisfied with the stay. The property is older. It reminded me of a "mom and pop" motel like you find in areas like Manitou Springs. Even though it was old, it was clean. The parking lot was clean. No trash laying around. The room was clean and it smelled fresh however it appeared as old as it is. My daughter hasn't experienced a motel like this before. I must say she is more used to the chain hotels so she was unimpressed. I was fine with everything. Our room had a window/wall unit that provided heat for the room however a gas furnace still was in the room. Our friends, who booked at my recommendation, had the gas unit in their room and their complaint was that it did not heat their room appropriately. Bars of soap were the ammenities. Towels were small and thin. Beds were very hard and pillows were thin as pancakes. The price was very reasonable. $50.00/night when booked directly. I would stay here again however I doubt I could convince my daughter or friends to do the same.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a wall unit for heating/air, not a gas wall furnace.

Any experienced road warrior knows that an old, 50's era hotel can be a crapshoot. It could be pleasant and quaint, or your room could look like a medieval torture arena and a successful evening means waking up alive in the morning. Well, the Buffalo Inn falls under the former. It's small, cute, and very well kept. Although not on par with the excellent Blue Swallow Hotel in Tucumcari NM, the Buffalo Inn has the charming appeal of an old place on Route 66. My only complaint would be the bed, which seems to have gone beyond its expected service life. If you find yourself in town and need a nice, clean place to stay that's different from the big name chains, Buffalo Inn can't be beat. Oh, and it was cheaper at the desk without an online reservation, which saved me ten bucks. Recommended!

Hubby and I decided to do a "Blue Highway" road trip of the Texas plains and found ourselves visiting Palo Duro Canyon, a little farther north than intended. We didn't want to go up to Amarillo to stay overnight so I finally found the Canyon, TX Chamber's phone number in a brochure. Buffalo Inn was suggested among other ideas so we opted for this one which sounded like the least expensive. Not only was it inexpensive, it was clean, the TV worked fine and, like the manager promised, the highway noise wasn't bad at all after dark. There were enough towels, thin, but enough, and shampoo and conditioner provided. I recommend this to the budget-minded.

What a bargain! I chose this motel based on the reviews here. It was a great choice! The room and bathroom were clean, spotless! This is an old property, but there are some surprising upgrades...flat screen tv, good wifi, hair dryer in bathroom, and micro-fridge. I would absolutely stay here again!
