We drove up to Canyon Lake Park to get a Senior Lifetime pass. We were unsure where to go so we headed into Canyon Park Rd. Past swimming area to first park gate which was labeled campground. We were on motorcycle and there was a car with boat and another car in front of us. My husband walked up to the gatehouse just to ask if we were in the right place. The park person told him he would not answer any questions and to get in line. Husband explained we want to get a senior pass and wanted to be sure we were in the right place. The park person told him again he will not answer any questions and get in line. Husband tried one more time to explain and again all the park person could say is he will not answer any questions until we get in line. How rude. This is how you are treated by a public servant in a national park! We will never go back there again.

The North Park has a strict "No Pedestrians" policy, which seems to be absolutely contrary to the point of a "park". Needless to say, we thanked the attendant and walked - *gasp* - back to our car. Not worth the hassle of getting there.

Beautiful beach, great for kids. Nice grassy area behind beach and flat area perfect for picnicking. Bring a chair and bring some shade. Only about 4 trees for shade. It cost about $5 for a car load of people, but well worth it.

This is 15 minutes from the Hill Country Resort. When I asked the Staff at the desk they said there were no trails on or around the property, but fortunately one of the maintenance workers knew about this trail and told us. It is a beautiful trail that runs along the lake. It it a must do.

We enjoyed this hike over a beautiful warm winter afternoon. The total length if you do the WHOLE loop is 8.5 miles. There are markers to help keep you on track. It's super easy terrain with beautiful views of the lake. There are tons of old picnic table, dilapidated bathrooms, a boat ramp and even an abandoned road with grass growing over it. The hike was nice just a little longer than some had stated. Thankful we had water and some snacks. We had our 2 dogs with us who we kept on leash since there are deer in the area. We knew one was nearby whenever the dog's ears would perk up. We only saw 1 other person during our hike!
