Staff was friendly enough but it doesn't make up for the lack of cleanliness, functioning and
working needed things in cabin # 11. Here is a list of common things you would expect to work
and give service to you.
1. air conditioner was behind TV, hard to get good air flow
2. there was no cookstove, only a microwave, but because of position of micro you could only open it a little because it opened against the fridge. The shelf it was on was held up by an old broom or mop handle.
3. There were no micro dishes, bowls and etc. to even use if we could have used it.
4. The towel rack by bathroom sink would not stay in the wall.
5. Shower was full of bugs (rolly polly bugs.) . Fleas or some kind or small bugs, insects was in bed. (not bed bugs)
6. No pad or rug inside to clean feet and keep out leaves and dirt.
7. No broom to sweep out bugs and leaves. Bugs came in under the door, squish at night time.
8. The toilet flushed really slowly- had to flush 2 -3 times to complete flush.
9. Blinds were difficult to raise and lower, they would stick.
10. Refrigerator was slow to get cold and when it did, it froze the food.
11. The chairs at table had crack in the back and the rungs were out of holes.
12. There were cords and surge protectors running all over the floor between bed and the chest of drawers. This was a tripping hazard not to mention too much on one cord.
13. Had only one lamp in dining, bedroom area. The ceiling fan above bed had a light that
didn't work, so the handyman came to change the bulb and found it was an electrical wiring problem. He went and got us another lamp and a bar stool to sit it on for other side of bed.The front porch light switch didn't work either. (electrical problems again.)
14. Cabinets under sink and the pots and pan area were very dirty. (not even sure why there
were pots and pans as there was no way to use them. Asked about another cabin that had a cook stove and was told that the large one that sleeps 8 to 10 had one, but they were having a reunion.
15 On phone spoke with someone who told us the grocery store and restaurants were only
about 3 or 4 miles away - very misleading, they were much much farther than that. We spoke of getting groceries and etc. and nothing was said about no stove and etc. only that we should
bring our own charcoal. ( we thought you meant if desired to use the outdoor cooker.)
16.Told them we were coming to fish and nothing was said about the water being low and that it could not be easily reached. (again site was very misleading to us, confusing. We had to crawl down a steep embankment about 50 ft. to even get close to the water - not very safe, I almost fell in water.
17.Closet space in bathroom was only about 3-3/12 ft. tall - clothes drug on floor. 2 hangers
18.. No where on site does it say to bring linens for bedroom, bath and kitchen. We only found
out by making a call to check on some other things.
This was meant to be a birthday and mother's day outing. How awful and terrible ruining my husband's gift to his wife. We forced ourselves to spend one night as it was already late and nothing else available. We arrived late Friday afternoon and left early Saturday morning very disappointed and a little angry.
We do not understand how they can be a member (in good standing) with the Chamber of
Commerce, Canyon Lake Lodging Assoc. Woodalls, Sams or anyone else. We will certainly
not be returning nor will we give our friends or people we know a good report for them to try
this place. You need to do a lot of fixing up and repairs --take care of things - especially if you are going to rent this place out to the public. You also need to check your web sight and read the untruths and omissions for yourself. Shame on you!!!

Room Tip: I would not recommend this room (cabin to anyone at all for any reason) no exceptions!!!

It started off with me entering the wrong credit card details, Rick rang me up and we sorted that out. We drove the 3 hours from Houston not knowing what to expect. We ending up having a great 3 night stay, in fact so good we have rebooked for another 3 days, accommodation is basic, but hey for the price it's a steal.

I rented RV site 34 this past (April 2014) Easter weekend, and my expirence wasn't no where near these negative reviews. I'm very big on reading reviews but id thought I give this spot a shot from the phone convo I had with the owner/ manger, he was very polite and helpful with any questions I had and was very fair as far as pricing. We had a few more people than normally and he was very cool about it and as far as some RV sites being residents, it didn't pose a problem what so ever. Everyone did their own thing and no complaints or problems what so ever. The only thing that was a bummer was the fact that the river was low. Not extremely low but was low but we can't blame Lazy RnR cove for that, this Texas drought and heat doesn't help. The canoeing, and paddle boat was fun and water was refreshing for those who love swimming. The water wasn't to far from our site and wasn't crowded like most place we go to. Had our space which was good. Other than that over all my stay and expirence was a solid 9 out 10. Defiantly will come back to this quiet, peaceful spot.

My husband and I are no strangers to less expensive cabins and fishing cabins, so we are not expecting a 5-star experience. However, we were a little disappointed in this cabin. We would rate it 2.5 stars and it wouldn't take many inexpensive fixes for them to make it worthy of 3 stars.

We stayed in cabin 5. This is a one room cabin with the bed, pull-out couch and kitchenette all in the same room. It is one of the 4 person cabins, however it really wouldn't be comfortable with 4 adults. If the couch folded out to accommodate 2 kids I'm not sure how you could walk between the couch and bed at night to get to the bathroom.

Location:
10-15 minutes from Canyon Lake, surrounding restaurants and Potter's Creek park where there is a free boat ramp. 1 hour from Fredericksburg and Wimberley. The closest grocery store 25 minutes.

Surroundings:
It is at the end of a neighborhood where we enjoyed spotting deer every morning and evening we drove through. Probably saw over 300 deer over the course of a week. Because it is at the end of the road there is minimal traffic. A pleasant 5-10 minute walk down to the river in the mornings and evenings made for a relaxing week.

PLEASE NOTE - RIVER ISSUES: there is no water in the fork of the river where the campground is located. Pictures on their web site still show campsites on the water. Boat ramp #11 is only 2 minutes away but closed due to lack of water.

The cabins are all built around a circle drive and the RVs are really permanent residents. This is a pro for us because it is quiet in the evenings since there are not a lot of tourists outside grilling or making noise around the make-shift fire pits.

There is a small but nice playground for kids. Because the RVs are primarily permanent residents there were a lot of dogs. All were friendly but there were a lot of dog "bombs" in the grass.

Accommodations:
We stayed in cabin 5. Cabins 1-6 are the same layout and are more private than the other cabins. If we were to stay again we would prefer cabin 1 or 4 due to one side of them being beside the woods.

Supposedly cabins 1-6 are built for 4 people. There were 3 chairs inside and 2 chairs (one broken) outside. There was only 1 rod for hanging your bath towel and it wasn't for bath towels; it is for hand towels. I could barely squeeze my towel in it and my husband had to hang his towel over the door. All it would take is 2 normal size towel rods or hooks to make this more comfortable for 2 adults. With the one tiny towel rod my towel was damp everyday.

PLEASE NOTE - BRING YOUR OWN LINENS AND TOWELS: We didn't realize until we received our confirmation email that you need to bring your own towels and linens. That wasn't a problem, however, if they had a better web site this would have been more apparent at the time of booking. Keep in mind you need to bring not just sheets and bath towels but hand towels for the bathroom and kitchen, paper towels, blankets, pillow cases, etc. They provided 4 pillows.

The hot water is on a timer. So if you plan to take a quick shower and get out the door to start your day you need to get up a little early and start the hot water timer. This wasn't that inconvenient until we needed hot water in the kitchen to wash dishes or in the bathroom to wash my hands after using the restroom. The toilet seat was tiny.

The coffee pot literally took 45 minutes. So first thing in the morning we started the coffee and the hot water timer for everything else.

Our cabin happened to have a porch swing which we loved. We didn't see any other porch swings at the other cabins. They have firewood to buy if you forgot to bring yours.

PLEASE NOTE - PARKING CHARGE: if you have a 2nd vehicle or a boat there is a parking charge. Again, if they had a decent web site we would have known this. They were kind enough not to charge us for our boat, however it's odd to charge considering the driveway for our cabin was big enough for both our truck and bass boat.

Pros: inexpensive; quiet end of the road location near one fork in the river; lots of deer; lots of trees; quiet cabins; would be great for a small family on a budget.

Cons: lack of basic amenities; difficult to feel clean with such a tiny shower/toilet and the inability to wash hands with hot water; no water in the river near the campsite

Funnily enough, I stayed on the weekend of Friday the 13th! 9-13-13 thru 9-15-13. I spoke to Rick on the phone, and he fixed my reservations that I screwed up. We drove up and rang the bell and met Jason (no not that Jason) who was friendly and tattooed. If you're the kinda person who judges someone by the cover, you're missing out. Cool and helpful. If you need anything, don't be shy, just ask him. He directed us to where we wanted to go.
A party of six at the camp site right at the base of the road with plenty of table space and areas to sit or set your stuff. Electricity was available with an extension cord for those who would die without their electronics. Site had a nice barrel bbq pit, campfire ring in the center and a smaller xtra grill for the little stuff. There is a bathhouse with a couple of showers and most importantly to many, HOT water. We were covered by trees and at night we saw deer, heard owls, crickets, and cicada. Not everyone in our group was sold on the idea of "roughing" it before arriving, but everyone of us really enjoyed our stay. Now we all know Texas has been very dry lately, so the cove was dry, but it being right next to our camp was awesome. There are flat rocks to go be chill, we hiked up and down along the sides, and took plenty of photos of the most interesting looking "tree bones". White woody remnants along the sides. The water to fish is a hike a-way, but if your party is like mine (loaded down with ice chests and other stuff), just a very short drive to the boat ramp area we found a couple of families fishing. The touristy horseshoe is not very far along 306 or you could do like us and go for a longer drive and make a second trip out of it.
We listened to our music, drank like fish, ate like pigs, and at night we slept like babies. In the morning we were visited by 2 very friendly dogs that came from one of the RVs. They bounded off pretty quickly, just checking us out. This is not the parking lot camping site you see everywhere. I know I'll be back someday when time permits. I hope to see it after a rainy season, 'cuz I'm sure the cove is awesome when filled. Oh, and we all made it home alive!

Room Tip: I roughed it.
